As Greg Norman eyes his final roster ahead of LIV Golf’s revamped 2023 season, the fiery CEO has tasked new recruits Cameron Smith and Marc Leishman with luring in another huge name into his arsenal of defectors.
Having only just signed Smith and Leishman ahead of LIV Boston, the pair have now been assigned the mission of convincing Adam Scott to join the breakaway league, with Norman revealing it’s “over to them” to turn their fellow Aussie’s head.
“There were discussions early on with Adam and I think right now with Marc and Cam being the principals of Team Australia, I think quite honestly it’s over to them.” Norman told The Herald.
Scott has long been linked with LIV and seemed a shoo-in to join the series alongside Smith and Leishman as part of Norman’s dream Australian team.
But after attending the PGA Tour’s emergency players’ meeting in August, Scott seemingly pledged his loyalty to LIV’s rival and negotiations came to an end.
Norman, though, hasn’t given up on the 2013 Masters champion joining LIV, and will be hoping Smith and Leishman can fulfil his mission in the coming months.
“They have to build out the most solid team which gives them the best value going forward.” He continued. “Obviously, they’ll come to us and ask us questions.”
