Lowry hits the shops after equipment ‘accident’ on PGA Tour
Shane Lowry was forced to take drastic measures after breaking his putter at the CJ Cup
Shane Lowry might have a Claret Jug to his name, but that doesn’t mean he gets special treatment when it comes to buying clubs from your everyday golf store.
In one of the most priceless moments of the PGA Tour season so far, Lowry was forced to drive over an hour in pursuit of a new putter after “accidentally” breaking his flatstick at the CJ Cup.
Now why the Irishman remained tight-lipped on exactly how this “accident” took place on day one at Congaree, he was then candid on how he found a replacement, and the story is just as hilarious as you might expect…
Forced to take matters into his own hands with the equipment trucks packed up for the week, Lowry only went and popped into a local PGA Tour Superstore, splashing out on two Odyssey putters to the surprise of everyone browsing the shelves.
An ultimate one of us moment. The question then had to be asked, did a major champion and Ryder Cup star get any special treatment at checkout?
Brilliant. We just wish we’d been a fly on the wall when Lowry popped through the doors in the first place!
