Michael Block reveals staggering sum offered for his hole-in-one 7-iron

The incredible story of Michael Block carries on to the Charles Schwab Challenge this week, where he revealed the bonkers sums of money he's been offered for his 7-iron

The fun doesn’t stop for Michael Block.

After finishing tied for 15th at the PGA Championship and making a hole-in-one while playing with Rory McIlroy, Block earned an invite to the Charles Schwab Challenge on the PGA Tour.

Block isn’t a stranger to playing on the PGA Tour – having made 25 previous starts – but he’s certainly not used to this much attention.

The 46-year-old teaching pro stole the hearts of golf fans at Oak Hill and his crowning moment came on the par 3 15th hole in the final round when he slam-dunked a hole-in-one.

You couldn’t blame Block if he wanted to wrap his 7-iron in cotton wool after that, but he might think twice now after revealing the mind-blowing sums of money golf fans have offered him for it.

“I’ve had a couple of different offers actually. It’s crazy, right?” Block said at Colonial Country Club when he was asked about the rumoured $30,000 bid for his iron.

“I’ve had a couple different offers, and the initial response was $50,000 and I’d hand deliver it. Kind of kiddingly, but I guess not really anymore.

“But I’ve had other people ask to have it preserved in certain spots for the PGA, et cetera, stuff like that. So it’s up in the air. For right now it just needs to hit shots in there close for me, and I’ll go from there.”

Not only has Block been invited to Texas this week, but he has also earned a place at the RBC Canadian Open in June.

He apologised to all of those who he hadn’t texted back after his memorable week in New York, as he had to unexpectedly jump on a flight to Texas for another PGA Tour stop.

However, one message from a certain basketball icon particularly blew him away and he made sure to respond.

“Getting a text from Michael Jordan today – I’m a big Jordan guy my whole life. I was a little kid in Iowa saving 100 bucks for a pair of Jordans back in the day. Pretty darn cool, to say the least.

“It was something in the way that what he saw is why he loves the game of golf so much.”

The “Block party” is far from over and the eyes of the golf world will be on him again when he tees it up in Fort Worth with Min Woo Lee and Pierceson Coody.
