Koepka can’t resist cheeky dig at DeChambeau’s ant rant
Brooks Koepka took aim at Bryson DeChambeau’s antics. Again
I mean, you knew it was coming. As did anyone who has even a passing interest in the Brooks Koepka-Bryson DeChambeau rivalry – though it really is less a rivalry and more your classic teen comedy jock vs nerd showdown.
And this was by far the funniest yet.
If you didn’t see any of the first-round action from the WGC-FedEx St Jude Invitational, DeChambeau got himself into a six-minute row with a rules official after claiming some fire ants were mooching around by his ball.
Seriously, if you haven’t read about it, make sure you do that first. We can hold on.
Back? Glorious, wasn’t it?
Fast forward 24 hours and Koepka, the leader through 18 holes thanks to a career-low 62 at TPC Southwind, finds himself in a similarly awkward position under some trees.
As he’s eyeing up what kind of medicine he’s going to take, he delivers his punchline.
“There’s an ant,” he quips.
And as an added chef’s kiss moment, caddie Ricky Elliott seems to believe him before his boss tells him he’s just kidding.
At least if this golf lark dries up he’s got a career on the stand-up circuit to fall back on.
