The Vale Resort has launched a free golf app which acts as a 3D GPS distance device. Available to download from Google Play and the App store, the Vale Resort golf app uses pin-positioning technology to enable players to calculate their distance from the front, middle and back of the green.
Other features of the app include a “green detail”, which tells the player where the pin is located on the green, helping to improve a golfer’s precision, and a 3D Golf Flyover of each hole, which shows players aerial shots of each hole. The flyover technology offers insight on how each hole should best be played.
The app is also available on fixed screens secured to the resort’s golf buggies. It informs players of the size of the green on each hole as well as trees, water hazards, bunkers and paths that could obstruct play.
“We’re delighted to offer our bespoke app as a free downloadable tool,” said the Vale Resort’s manager, Clive Coombes.
“This technology revolutionises how golfers can prepare before heading out to play a round.”
“We’re the first club in Wales to have the full system installed – the GPS app, the Golf Flyover and access to the system in our golf buggies and on screens at the resort.”
“Through our app,” Mr Coombs said, “golfers can see hole-by-hole what’s on offer”
The Wales National Course and the Lake Course have been host to a number of PGA golf tournaments including several Wales Senior Open tournaments and Wales Challenge tournaments.
