Adidas S2G SL Women’s golf shoes review: First Impressions
Over the years I have owned and loved many Adidas golf shoes. Out of the box, I would be lying if I said these were the comfiest pair that I have tried. Unlike some shoes, there isn’t a lot of foam on the footbed and so they’re not as cushioned. Nonetheless, my foot still sat in them quite nicely.
The design of the S2G SL shoes is a very subtle leopard print which comes in a white/grey and a slightly more out their taupe which shows up the pattern a lot more. Adidas also offers this style of shoe in a BOA option.
The upper of Adidas S2G SL is made from mesh which has been created using 50% recycled content. Despite not being leather these shoes have been listed as 100% waterproof it will be interesting to see how they get on in the wet.
Adidas S2G SL Women’s golf shoes review: On Course Testing
Out of all the shoes I’ve tested so far, these certainly got the most thorough test. I used them for a quick couple of holes around my clubs which at the time were very wet and muddy. Safe to say they passed the waterproof test with flying colours. After only an hour or so the nearly white golf shoes were covered in mud and I was slightly worried I would never see them return to their original colour again. Thankfully, this was not the case and with some light cleaning the mud came straight off. I can’t say this would have been the case on the material tongue of the shoe though I managed to keep any dirt off of that.
After a muddy outing, I took the shoes out around a much drier Ganton golf club. I must mention that most Adidas shoes I have tend to be a UK 8 and these were a 7.5 yet fit quite nicely. After 15 holes I did start to feel the shoes rubbing at my heels which was unfortunate as up to then I’d found them fairly comfortable.
I hate to admit it but these shoes did leave me with sweaty feet. Adidas doesn’t claim that these shoes are breathable as far as I can see and so that’s just something to take into consideration.
The Adidas S2G SL’s are spikeless golf shoes and offer a one size/height arrow design which provides a fair bit of traction. I didn’t slip on any occasion whilst wearing but I’m not sure they would be great at tackling a damp hill.
One thing I did really like about the SG2 SL’s is that they didn’t crease after a few rounds. The mesh upper with a waterproof cover meant that unlike leather there were no deep creases caused by swinging.
Adidas S2G SL Women’s golf shoes review: The 19th hole
For me, nothing really stands out about these shoes. They’re a great average pair of golf shoes that will see you around a course. Off of the course, you could quite easily walk into a supermarket unaware that you’re in golf shoes but personally I wouldn’t go much further than that in them.
