First impressions of the FootJoy Stratos
When I took my first look at the FootJoy Stratos golf shoe, I wasn’t that excited. The design is very simplistic, but sometimes, this is all you want.
The Charcoal on the back of the shoe creates a very smart look, and the blue on the bottom of the shoe certainly contrasts with the rest of the design.
The inside sole of the shoe is a cork-like colour which is another nice touch. ‘Smart’ is certainly a word I’d emphasise when describing this shoe.
I was pleased with the fit and comfort when I slipped the FootJoy Stratos on, and my smile became wider when I stepped on the golf course.
FootJoy used “supple and luxurious” full-grain leather to create these golf shoes and this contributed to the comfort I felt on the course.
I felt stable and secure with each shot, whether I was attempting to hole a five-foot putt or find a fairway off the tee box.
StratoFoam adds to the comfort element of these shoes as this feature is meant to reduce “underfoot fatigue” during your round.
I can confirm I experienced no such fatigue with my feet after the round. The FJ Stratos shoe contributed to my performance as much as a shoe can with its quality and versatility.
As well as being a fan of the White, Charcoal and Blue Jay design, I enjoyed the stability that was added to my swing.
The VersaTrax+ outsole is meant to aid your performance with “wear-to-the-course” versatility and I experienced this first-hand.
The spikeless blue bottom of the shoe didn’t lack in grip when walking over hilly terrains and taking shots in thick rough (which happened frequently).
The FootJoy Stratos golf shoes use an anti-channelling traction pattern to increase grip from any lie and this was one of the shoe’s main strengths.
‘Classy’ is another word I’d use to describe both the look and the performance of this shoe.
You certainly won’t have to tie me down to wear these shoes again. They are a model typical of FootJoy’s quality and they were unsurprisingly brilliant.
The 19th hole
The FootJoy Stratos golf shoes are off-course friendly. The spikeless design helps with this and they wouldn’t hinder your journey home were you to keep them on in the car.
