Farah goes way back to 1920, when it was founded in Texas. They originally made workwear, so they know a thing or two about well-constructed, durable clothing. Today’s review will be an in-depth look at the Farah Hoxie Polo Shirt.

First Impressions
You might wince at the sight of wearing a shirt by itself at this time of year, which is understandable. But when you start pairing it with a base layer or mid layer, it’s not half as bad as you might think.
The Hoxie polo shirt is made from 59% Polyester and 41% Sorona Polyester. The latter is the game changer here; it’s a partially plant-based polymer that is an eco-efficient performance fibre made in part from annually renewable plant-based ingredients.

In other words, it’s kind to the environment and offers greater performance than a standard polo shirt. Oh, did I mention it’s warmer than other fabrics too? The Hoxie polo shirt is officially the dark horse of autumn!
On Course Testing
When I wear polo shirts, it could go one of two ways; either the fitting is perfect or completely out of sorts. I can confirm this shirt had a flawless fit, especially when worn with a base layer.
There are four colours to choose from, and I got my hands on the amber version. If I was in the market for one I would choose the white option. You can’t beat a polo in white!

The modern polo also features a raised textured Farah ‘F’ motif across the designs stands out nicely. This, along with the flat-ribbed collar with a double stripe is a welcome feature as the polos would be quite bland otherwise.
When it comes to performance, the polo has everything but the kitchen sink. Freedom of movement? Check? Breathability? Check. Don’t worry about your game taking a hit.
The 19th hole
It’s a modern golf polo, with golf being the operative word, especially in the amber colour. If you opt for the white or blue, you will get away with wearing it on other occasions, but I’ll be keeping this polo shirt to be worn underneath a mid-layer and on top of a base layer during colder parts of the year.
The light blue, red, dark blue and white would look nice in the summer when it’s warm enough to sit outside and drink a cold one. Just make sure you put some sunscreen on.
