You might know Tifosi more for cycling and running eyewear, but the UK company is making great strides in the golf market because of their high-quality, low-cost, sunglasses. The Navar FC are a wraparound style, in a half-frame construction, that are designed to maximise peripheral vision as well as providing the obligatory protection from the sun’s ultraviolet rays.
As the title suggest, these sunglasses represent remarkable value but they are more than just a low price item. The quality is there and is outlined fully in my full Tifosi Navar FC sunglasses review below.

NCG Summary & Rating

NCG SUMMARY
I dare you to find a better pair of sunglasses at the price. The Tifosi Navar FC are exceptional value. Incredibly light at just 25g, they sit comfortably no matter how fast you swing and the rubber nose and ear pads means there’s no slipping at pivotal points. The lenses are durable and tough. At £34.99, they just can’t be beaten.

First Impressions
Two things strike you immediately – the high-quality construction of the Navar FC sunglasses and how light they are in the hands. The frame feels very durable and the lens material – a shatterproof polycarbonate – seems pretty scratch resistant. Though I wouldn’t recommend it, I believe you could roughhouse these sunglasses and they would come through the test. I like the wraparound construction but Tifosi offer several other models if that’s not your preference.

How I undertook the review
I tested these sunglasses during separate rounds at Moortown, in Leeds, and Close House, in Newcastle. There was intermittent cloud cover on the first occasion, and it was a brighter sunnier day on the second. I’ve also worn them while walking.
What I found
I’m a journalist, so I’m not averse to using hyperbole to make a point. But the Tifosi Navar FC sunglasses are worth every adjective. I have to wear reading glasses these days – thanks ageing – and I’m forever taking them on and off as the weight wears down on the bridge.
By contrast, these sunglasses are incredibly light. I was able to wear them for hours without feeling any fatigue or leaving a temporary dent in my nose. The TR-90 sport frame is very comfortable, and the rubber nose and ear pads hold fast during the swing.

I have to apply suncream regularly and that has often caused sunglasses to slip – particularly when weather conditions get warmer. But the Navar FC glasses are very secure and I alternated between a suncream gel and a cream during testing to put them fully through their paces.
I personally prefer wraparounds, I don’t like to see bright sunlight in my peripheral vision when wearing glasses, and the Navar FC are very effective. I also suffer from floaters and these were markedly minimised using these glasses – particularly on the green where the condition is normally at its worst for me.
The view through the lenses isn’t too dark, or brown, and your eyes quickly acclimatise. You’d expect 100% UVA and UVB as standard, but my eyes were not sore or tired following either round.
The half-frame shape doesn’t just look to open up the field of view, Tifosi designs it to reduce fogging too. While I’ve not tested these sunglasses in early morning conditions yet, I did notice significantly fewer fogging episodes than I would normally experience through my regular reading glasses.

They feel very durable. The frame isn’t ultra rigid like some plastic frames on cheaper glasses and the lenses – while promising to be shatterproof – also feel like they will offer some resistance from scratching. That’s important because the Tifosi Navar FC don’t come with a hardcase – only a microfiber cleaning bag.
I understand that probably keeps the price point down, and again the price is a massive plus for these sunglasses, so I can accept the compromise.
NCG Verdict
We often have to accommodate on quality if we’re buying something at a lower price point but happily, in the case of the Tifosi Navar FC, we can have the best of both worlds.
These are a high-quality pair of sunglasses at an affordable price and well worth the investment. We’re becoming more aware of the importance of protecting our vision while on the course – with the dangers to our eyes from the sun becoming as well-known now as those to our skin.
With the Tifosi Navar FC, you can be confident of achieving that without having to break the bank.
How they compare to other sunglasses
I’ve switched to Tifosi from a Henrik Stenson pair I’d worn for the previous two years. At a third of the cost, the Tifosi were lighter and easier to wear for longer periods – so much so there were times I forgot they were on my face. If you’re looking for a pair that don’t wrap fully around your face, the Tifosi Swank are at a similar price point.
