The Masters is the only of the four majors to be staged at the same venue every year: Augusta National. It is here that world’s best compete for the chance to win the famous green jacket. Dating back to 1934, the first man to win the Masters was Horton Smith.
Augusta was farmland until two men, golfer Bobby Jones and banker Clifford Roberts, bought it and turned it into a golf club. It was called the Augusta National Invitation Tournament until 1939 when it changed its name to the Masters.
Jack Nicklaus holds the record for most Masters wins with six.

Only four British golfers have ever won the Masters: Nick Faldo, Sandy Lyle, Ian Woosnam and the 2016 champion, Danny Willett.
The youngest ever winner of the Masters was Tiger Woods, who in 1997 was 21 years 104 days old when he won.
