Players Championship field: Who is playing at TPC Sawgrass?
Here is the full list of every player who is eligible to compete at the 50th Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass…
144 players are set to take on the Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass for the 50th Players Championship, which promises to be a cracker.
This golf tournament at Ponte Vedra Beach has been graced by the greats: Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Lee Trevino, Tiger Woods. Tiger could even tee it up in 2024.
It is a golf course that every PGA Tour fan is familiar with – one of the many reasons why it is regarded as the sport’s fifth major championship.
There might be a $25 million purse and a field littered with golf’s biggest stars but, unlike the PGA Tour’s Signature Events with limited fields and sometimes no cuts, this tournament is a full-field format, offering plenty of opportunities for glory.
Scottie Scheffler is the defending champion after virtually walking to victory in 2023 by five shots from Tyrrell Hatton, who joined Jon Rahm in the LIV Golf League at the start of this calendar year.
There will be much anticipation to see Scheffler and the rest of his PGA Tour colleagues take on the island green on the 17th hole and the rest of the challenges that Pete Dye’s TPC Sawgrass presents.
The field is made up of winners of PGA Tour events through the final week before The Players, the top 10 in the FedEx Cup after the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches, and the top 50 of the Official World Golf Ranking.
If the field of 144 still isn’t full, golfers outside of the top 10 in the FedEx Cup after the Cognizant Classic will gain entry in order of their position.

Now on the wrong side of 25, Matt has been playing golf since the age of 13 and was largely inspired to take up the game by countless family members who played golf during his childhood.
Matt is a member at Royal Cinque Ports in Deal playing off a 5 handicap, just a pitching wedge away from his hometown of Dover where he went to school and grew up. He has previously been a member at Etchinghill and Walmer and Kingsdown in Kent.
Having studied history at the University of Liverpool, Matt went on to pass his NCTJ Exams in Manchester a year later to fulfil his lifelong ambition of becoming a journalist. He picked up work experience along the way at places such as the Racing Post, the Independent, Sportsbeat and the Lancashire Evening Post.
Matt joined NCG in February 2023 and is the website’s main source of tour news, features and opinion. He has reported live from events such as The Open, the Ryder Cup and The Players Championship, having also interviewed and spent time with some of the biggest names in the sport.
