Who doesn't love new golf shoes? Check out what's coming next year from Ecco

I’ve been away in Holland to take a look at Ecco’s new spring summer 2018 shoes – including the Biom Hybrid 3.

Ecco Biom Hybrid 3

The Biom Hybrid 2 were one of the best golf shoes released in recent years so it was interesting to go and find out how Ecco had made them better.

There are three key areas which have been focussed on.

Firstly, these are made from a premium Yak leather – a very soft and breathable leather which Ecco actually make themselves.

And there’s an all new grip system on the outsole which Ecco are calling Tri-Fi Grip. It basically means that there are three areas on the outsole which each have a specific role.

There’s added grip towards the outstep area of the toe which adds stability, a ‘rotation line’ around the top of the toe to help you turn forwards and then a re-enforced chunkier bit of grip around the heel for durability on a part of the shoe which can wear faster than others.

The third cool bit of technology is that they have a 100 percent waterproof Gore-Tex construction.

All of Ecco’s new shoes for 2018 – including the Ecco Cool Pro below – have Gore-Tex lining as Ecco believe it is the only way to guarantee keeping the water out.

The Cool Pro have the Spydr-grip outsole which we saw in the Cage Pro last year. Still a spikeless shoe but Ecco say the outsole on the Biom Hybrid 3 is more versatile for wear off the course where as the Spydr-grip is more of a performance outsole.

Right, I’m off to test them out on The Dutch – home of the KLM Open – and I’ll report back with my review soon.

It’s Christmas. It’s trolley wars

Trolley giants Motocaddy and Powakaddy – who have 90-odd percent off the electric trolley market between them – have both launched festive promotions… and they are basically the same deal. What are the chances.

Motocaddy are offering a free cart bag with all lithium battery trolleys between now and December 24.

Powakaddy are offering a free cart bag with all lithium battery trolleys between now and December 24.

All jokes aside – they are both fantastic deals so I’d get in there now to avoid disappointment.

Full details are available on the brands’ websites.
