In episode 3 of our new instruction series, we cover the nine-shot drill made famous by Tiger Woods, and how it will help you control your iron shots better

9-shot drill

Being able to shape the ball with different trajectories gives golfers that adaptability that’s so important when trying to access various hole locations. It’s something Tiger has done better than anyone throughout his career thanks, in part, to this nine-shot drill that he’s used religiously in his practise. Here’s how you can do it…

Winter Golf Training Episode 3: Tiger Woods’ nine-shot drill

This drill gets you working on everything from a high draw to a low fade so that, when the shot demands it, you are prepared.

When you’re practising, pick a target and try and hit all the trajectory windows, calculating how many attempts you take on each. If you start with the high draw – as Andy does in the video – move on to the low fade.

There’s a reason for this. Working at opposites will help to keep your swing in balance.

Always make a note of how you get on so you know which shot takes you the most attempts.

Want to see how Andy got on? You’ll have to watch the video…
