Get your game ready for 2020 – Episode 2: Feel vs Real
The winter months are used by many to make swing changes in preparation for the new season. But there’s an important concept to keep in mind – ‘feel vs real’. What you feel like you’re doing and what you are doing will likely be very different and so, if you’re not monitoring your progress, you won’t achieve the desired outcome.
Winter Golf Training Episode 2: Feel vs real
A great way to do this is by setting up a camera and it’s easy to do – we’ve all got smartphones. Whenever you practice, put your phone on a tripod at the same angle and you’ll be well equipped to effectively implement your changes over time.

When it comes to your actual practice session, using a feedback loop is a great way to ensure you’re always working on the right things.
At the top of the loop is your practice swing where you can really feel and exaggerate the move you’re trying to create.
Then it’s into the execution where you hit the shot. It’s important to remember that you’re trying to get a feeling for the swing change so you don’t need to swing flat out or worry about how far you’re hitting it.
Once you’ve hit the shot, it’s then about evaluating that movement. Make a note of it or even turn to the camera and describe how it felt.
