The ExPutt RG Golf Putting Simulator aims to bring realistic, data-driven putting practice into the home. It promises to replicate real-world greens while providing detailed stroke feedback — potentially a game-changer for anyone serious about their short game. I actually enjoy practicing my putting – definitely guilty of throwing down an old mug and rolling a few towards it (that doesn’t count as practice I guess) so I couldn’t wait to undertake the Exputt RG Golf Putting Simulator Review…..

Its detailed feedback and versatile modes make it a highly valuable and enjoyable tool that puts the fun into practice.

First Impressions

On first getting the ExPutt RG out of the box, the packaging and components feel thoughtfully designed and premium. You receive a putting mat, high speed camera (with tripod or TV-mount option), HDMI and power cables, remote control and stickers for putter alignment — everything you need to get going.

Unrolling the mat gives a surprisingly realistic “green-like” surface: it lies flat immediately, with no awkward creases or folds.

Hooking the unit up to a TV and setting the camera in place was also extremely easy to do. I was ready to roll in minutes.

Right away, the interface — simple menu, clear modes, remote control navigation — feels polished. The graphics also look good: you see contours, slopes, and breaks.

Overall, the first impression is that this is a seriously cool piece of kit.

Experience of using

When I began using the ExPutt regularly, its strengths quickly became apparent — and it’s fair to say it stood up to expectations better than many home-practice aids.

I started with simple straight putts at varying lengths in “Practice” mode. After a few rolls, you can clearly see key metrics: path through the ball, face angle, ball speed, direction, total distance and stroke tempo. Watching the screen feedback after each putt was immediately valuable: for instance, on a few putts I noticed my putter face was slightly open at impact, which subtly pushed my putts off-line. That immediate, objective feedback made it easier to understand and correct my mechanics — something a standard mat simply can’t do. Now THIS is practice.

However, you can have fun too, picking greens from famous courses (some of the 70+ real world course greens provided) and putting from different distances and angles. Breaking and uphill breaks added challenge and  the “Play 9” and “Challenge” modes — where you take on virtual holes with different slopes and pin positions — added a scoring element and variety to practice sessions. Again – this is so great to be able to do from home.

NCG Final Verdict

The ExPutt RG Putting Simulator is a serious, high-value training tool for golfers who care about their putting mechanics and want to improve – or simply for golfers who like to have a little fun at home. We don’t all have room for a full swing simulator, so this is brilliant to scratch that golfing itch we sometimes get while watching the Pros on TV. Great fun to use especially in winter months or when you can’t get to a course — this is a worthwhile investment for keen golfers.

If you’re looking for a simple putting mat, this might be overkill — but if you’re committed to improving short-game consistency, ExPutt is surely the best on the market.
