NCG SUMMARY
A driver that is easy to hit, easy to launch and vastly forgiving. Perfect for those wanting to gain accuracy off the tee and get the ball in play on a consistent basis.
Feels light so I had great confidence in being able to swing it hard and fast. Although you do sacrifice on distance a tad, accuracy is just as important round a lot of courses.

First Impressions
Visually the Srixon ZXi MAX looks different to the others in the ZXi line-up. Unlike the other models, the MAX doesn’t have any adjustable weights, front or back, left and right. It has one big weight at the back of the driver head which drags the centre of gravity back to launch the ball a bit higher with more spin.
On the whole, the heads of these drivers are pretty much identically throughout the line-up. A difference the MAX has is a slightly longer front to back and a shallower face, which are things that are designed to help the golfer hit the ball higher.
NCG Verdict
A maximum forgiveness driver isn’t usually the driver I would try or gravity towards to usually. I’m not a golfer who needs help in gaining more spin or a driver with a particularly high MOI.
But for higher handicap golfers, it has all the qualities you could need. I saw solid levels of performance on mishit shots which is of course hugely beneficial to most amateur golfers. During testing I hit a shot out of the neck of the club, still having a higher launch and more spin, it does everything that it should.
You might be better off giving up five or 10 yards of distance for more fairways hit. Accuracy can sometimes be worth more than distance, depending on where you play your golf. Hitting it out of the trees sideways is just a waist of a shot.

Another positive was that none of the bad strikes veered far off line, they all remained fairly straight. If I was using a more tour friendly club I would have been in a bit more bother. That’s why picking the right driver for your game is so important.
Although, this isn’t your maximum distance driver, it’s still going to go far and has all the latest Srixon technologies other models from ZXi line-up posses. Technologies that include, the thin face, the light crown and the rebound frame, which Srixon have continued to use from the previous generation.
For those with slower swing speeds this is an easier to hit option. It’s a great choice if it’s a fairway finder you are looking for off the tee and that goes for any level of golfer with any type of swing speed. Getting the ball in play will help with that handicap down and the Srixon ZXi MAX certainly does that.
I have no complaints when it comes to the feel of the driver in the swing. I think the heads of this and other Srixon clubs feel lighter than other brands, gives me confidence to be able to swing harder and faster.
Overall, this is a driver that can hugely benefit those with a slower swing speed. A driver that where accuracy is king. I failed to find the centre on many of my strikes throughout testing but I still managed to find the fairway with all of them.
Ultimately that’s what this club is for. It’s easy to hit, really forgiving and your bad shots won’t be punished as badly. Despite this it’s still a fast driver with a thin face that is going to perform well.

La Cala Resort
We were fortunate enough to head out to the La Cala Resort in Spain to conduct some of our equipment reviews. A picturesque resort that is located in the Sierra de Mijas, just 30 minutes from Málaga Airport and 20 minutes from Marbella.
