TaylorMade Big Foot wedge review: First Impressions
Personally I think the wedge looks great and is really eye-catching. The orange copper finish of this club stands out instantly as does the new shaping especially the deep CG pockets on the back of the wedge.
This wedge is definitely chunkier than previous models however still looks great. I think the detailing of the Big Foot logo draws you in to see what this new club is all about.
TaylorMade Big Foot wedge review: The Technology
The key feature of the Big Foot wedge is the super wide sole. This is designed to prevent digging and increase playability. The club is flatter and wider than the original Hi-Toe at 32mm compared to 26mm’s.
The leading edge is more blunt and has a beveled leading edge radius. The trailing edge offers slight heel relief allowing the face to be opened and the ability to keep the leading edge low to the ground.
The sole features a C grind with the widest point of the club, and the area with the most bounce, being positioned towards the toe. This is to help those players who have a tendency to strike it out of the toe.
The Hi-Toe head design features full-face scoring lines. This basically means that the grooves cover the entire face. This is to help get better contact when playing out of the thick rough and increase spin across the face.
A combination of laser etching and raw face technology is utilised on the club-face to increase spin. The deep CG pockets are also designed to increase spin as well as improving flight control.

They also feature Hi-toe technology, the theory is the shaping moves the centre of gravity higher for lower launch and more spin.
It features a KBS Hi Rev 2.0 115 Recoil Graphite stock shaft.

TaylorMade Big Foot wedge review: NCG Verdict
This wedge sits really nicely behind the ball and visually looks almost identical to the regular Hi-Toe in set-up position. It would be easy to use regular Hi-toe’s for your gap wedge and then carry a lob wedge in the Big Foot model.
Visually I really like the the fact the grooves run all the way across the club-face. My bad strike with a wedge tends to be slightly out of the toe so the grooves inspire confidence of extra forgiveness in this area.
Obviously the sole of this club is significantly chunkier than previous models but I still found it to be fairly versatile, I do however think overall it is more a club for short game shots rather than full shots.
I found it performed really well out of the rough, helped by the hi-toe head shape and full-face grooves.
Even though there is a large amount of bounce on these clubs I could still control the strike and shot from relatively tight lies.
I would say this club performed best out of the bunker where you could really take advantage of the large amount of bounce. I found it very easy to get shots out of the bunker and get the ball to land softly on the green without having to manipulate the face.
The raw face and laser etching meant I could get the ball to stop quickly on the green and easily control check and run-out.
Overall I was impressed with how well these wedges performed in a wide variety of situations they were tested in.
