The Scotty Cameron Phantom range has become one of the most recognisable families in modern mallet design, evolving into a line up that spans compact mid-mallets through to high-MOI stability-focused shapes – all built with a blend of tour influence, precision milling, and refined feel.
Scotty Cameron has now expanded that lineup again with two new releases that sit at very different ends of the spectrum. The Phantom 3.2 and Phantom 12 continue the brand’s focus on delivering multiple putting solutions within a single family, catering to a wide range of strokes and player preferences.
Here’s everything you need to know about the new Phantom 3.2 and Phantom 12 mallet putters…
PHANTOM 3.2
Looks: The Phantom 3.2 is a compact mid-mallet that blends soft, rounded contours with sharper, more defined lines for a balanced address position. The shaping draws inspiration from several iconic Cameron models. It combines elements of the Scotty Cameron Red X, Scotty Cameron GOLO 6, Scotty Cameron Phantom 9, and the classic Scotty Cameron Kombi to create a familiar yet updated profile.
At address, the putter features multiple visual alignment aids including a Tri-Line sight line, a distinctive T-Crown top-line design, and open “window” slots through the body of the head. Together these all work together to help frame the golf ball clearly at address. They also help inspire confidence over short and mid-range putts. And, the compact footprint also makes it appealing to players who prefer a less bulky look compared to larger mallet designs.
Technology: The Phantom 3.2 features a “.2” plumbing neck designed to deliver moderate toe flow, making it suitable for players who want a blend of stability and natural release through the stroke. This neck configuration helps maintain control while still allowing a touch of rotation for feel-based putting styles.
The face uses a full-face Studio Carbon Steel (SCS) insert that has been paired with chain-link face milling technology. Together this helps to create a softer sound and improved feel at impact, while maintaining consistent ball speed across the face.

PHANTOM 12
Looks: The Scotty Cameron Phantom 12 takes a very different approach to the Phantom 3.2, offering a larger head profile. This confidence-inspiring profile designed to appeal to golfers who favour maximum stability.
The alignment is kept clean and simple with only a solid single sight line running through the head. This is complemented by Scotty Cameron’s T-Crown design, which helps frame the ball and naturally draws the eyes towards the target line. Despite its larger dimensions, the Phantom 12 maintains the premium, streamlined appearance that matches the rest of the Phantom family.
Technology: The Phantom 12 is built around stability and forgiveness. It has the deepest and lowest centre of gravity in the entire Phantom lineup. This has been achieved by a multi-material construction that strategically combines lightweight aluminium with heavier stainless steel.
A Space Grey aluminium face and mid-body help save weight, while stainless steel makes up approximately 65% of the putter’s total head weight and is positioned low and around the perimeter of the head. This ring-weighted design increases moment of inertia (MOI), helping the putter resist twisting through impact and maintain stability on off-centre strikes.
According to Scotty Cameron’s Senior Director of Putter R&D, Austie Rollinson, the deeper centre of gravity creates a unique sensation throughout the stroke. By increasing the distance between the head’s centre of gravity and the shaft axis, the putter promotes a more stable swinging motion and can encourage a slightly upward strike, helping generate improved forward roll.
Like the Phantom 3.2, the Phantom 12 also features Scotty Cameron’s chain-link face milling technology, which is engineered to deliver a soft yet solid feel while preserving feedback and consistent ball speed across the face.
The Phantom 12 is designed for golfers seeking maximum forgiveness, enhanced stability, and the confidence that comes from a larger mallet shape, making it one of the most forgiving and technologically advanced models in the Phantom range.
