These are premium Mizuno golf balls that are tailored to offer different performance benefits. Let’s see which golf ball would suit your game best!

Mizuno Pro S and Pro X Golf Balls: The Technology

Mizuno believe both models of golf ball supply increased speed due to a 12% thinner cover and 6% thicker mantle layer work together to produce a quicker ball speed. The mantle later of the golf ball often controls the amount of spin that a golfer can generate.

Mizuno Pro S and Pro X Golf Balls

These adjustments to the cover and mantle layer of the golf ball ensures great distance off the tee as well as more responsive iron and wedge strikes which helps deliver the all-round premium feel of the balls.

Both models employ Srixon’s 332 Axial Flow Dimples which is aimed at reducing air resistance and drag, again adding distance. Minimising the levels of drag also aides in the stability of the ball flight for greater accuracy off the tee and in approach shots.

The advanced aerodynamics of the Axial Flow Dimple Design prompts a more penetrating ball flight which is achievable even in challenging conditions as well as consistent performance in all weather elements.

Mizuno Pro S and Pro X Golf Balls

Where the golf balls start to differ is the ball flight on offer. The Mizuno Pro S favours a mid-trajectory which is ideal for those looking for more distance and run off the tee as it delivers a more penetrating ball flight. This also enables the ball to command more control in windy conditions, flying beneath the wind.

The Mizuno Pro X has a higher trajectory and ball flight, thus being a better fit for those looking for more height both off the tee and in their approach shots. Greater height results in a steeper landing angle which assists in stopping the ball more quickly on the greens for better control.

About the author

Max Mcvittie

A bit of a late bloomer to the game of golf, Max fell in love with the sport when he attended Saturday coaching sessions down at his local golf club after being inspired by friends and family members.

Max has remained a member of Eden Golf Club in Carlisle for a number of years now as he looks to get his handicap down into single figures. Most of his golfing career has been spent battling a permanent slice off the tee, which has led to some ugly rounds.

Having studied at the University of Sunderland, Max is starting out his dream career in sports journalism. During his time at university, he picked up valuable work experience at Reach PLC, BBC Radio Cumbria and GiveMeSport, whilst also getting work published in the Teesside Live. He also spent time working at a local weekly newspaper, Eskdale and Liddesdale Advertiser, as a general news reporter partially covering some local sport just north of the border in Langholm.

Max has just started his journey with the NCG working as the assistant equipment editor. He looks forwarded to reviewing the latest golf equipment, taking up an interest in reviews when buying his first golf club, a Cleveland RTX wedge.

With his bag not going under too many changes throughout the last few years, Max carries an M3 driver, Titleist GT3 Fairway Wood, M2 hybrid, a set of M2 irons, Callaway Jaws wedges and a TaylorMade Spider putter. And yes, Max is a bit of a self-proclaimed TaylorMade fan boy.
