Duca Del Cosma Flyer golf shoes review: NCG Summary

NCG SUMMARY

This is a premium golf shoe with striking looks that performed exceptionally well on the course.

PROS

  • Quality appearance
  • Extremely comfortable
  • Good stability & grip
  • Works well off-course

CONS

  • Bold style will not suit everyone.
  • Quite a heavy shoe

First Impressions

The overall appearance is of a stylish retro training shoe. I tested the model in white with contrasting navy piping and I really liked the striking design.

There is a rather garish branded ‘C’ logo on the outer aspect of the shoe which contrasts with a more pleasing, understated Italian flag and company name on the tongue. The upper is a lovely thick and soft feeling Nappa leather.

The UK size 7 (Euro 41) fitted my usually sized 7.5 wide foot very comfortably out of the box so I would say they run pretty true to size. It is important to note, half sizes are not offered.

On Course Testing

I tested these shoes over three rounds in dry conditions on my home heathland course. I really enjoyed wearing this shoe. It felt very comfortable and offered a different look from most other golf shoes. Throughout my round, the shoes remained very comfortable thanks to the insole with memory foam and the foam and cork cushioning. They felt very secure with good support around the ankle with excellent torsional stability.

Even though this is a spikeless shoe the sole delivered good traction in the conditions tested. Only time will tell if that would remain the case if the ground was softer underfoot.

Breathability wasn’t an issue, as my feet remained cool and fresh in the warm weather during testing.

The 19th hole

The looks and the spikeless outsole mean that this shoe is quite at home in the clubhouse or even on the journey to and from the golf course.

I was pleased to find detailed care instructions on the website. You can even purchase a golf shoe care kit for £20. I would add that keeping the white shoes that I tested in tip top condition will require a bit of time and effort. The alternative colour choice (navy with white trim) may be a better option over the winter season.

I think the price point reflects the premium nature of the shoe. If you like the looks and are prepared to look after them, then I think you will enjoy them.
