NCG SUMMARY

If you’ve worn Duca Del Cosma shoes before, you are going to love the Bernardo Pro Spike collection golf shoes. With the same quality of material and design we are used to, they now feature SoftSpike pulsar cleats, which give you all the grip and stability you could ask for.

These brogue style shoes don’t just look great; they also feature some exciting advanced technologies that will help you play better.

PROS

  • Extremely comfortable out of the box.
  • Excellent traction.
  • Wonderful design goes with any outfit

CONS

  • Firm, quality leather might need to be worn in

First Impressions

The attention to detail on these golf shoes is insane. The stitching is perfect, the leather is super high quality, and even the laces and eyelets look amazing. I love the red sole with the Duca Del Cosma text; they really stand out.

I’m a huge fan of the brogue styling Duca Del Cosma have gone for with the Bernardo Pro Spike shoes; they feel really classic, like shoes that were worn back in the day when the all-time greats played.

Putting these shoes on the leather is firm like you’d expect in shoes like these, but you know that quality leather moulds to your feet after a few trips to the driving range, so the stiffness isn’t an issue.

They are really comfortable to walk around in, thanks to the lightweight EVA midsole. The cushioning feels amazing underfoot, and they offer pretty good shock absorption when walking up and down slopes, in and out of bunkers, and scrambling over ditches. I gave them a pretty thorough test…

On Course Testing

I wore the Duca Del Cosma Bernardo Pro Spike golf shoes during a round at my home club Sand Moor on an extremely wet, dewy morning and then again on a trip to the links on a hot dry day. I can wear these shoes with any outfit so they’re extremely versatile.

Of all the flaws in my golf swing, the worst one is my back foot slipping mid-downswing which can cause some pretty horrific shots. This issue is made worse when wearing spikeless shoes so I pretty much don’t wear them when playing seriously as it doesn’t feel worth the risk.

I was absolutely ecstatic when Duca Del Cosma sent me this spiked pair of shoes as I love the brand and the quality and they now have an easy solution to one of my many problems. Each shoe has 8 soft spikes and secondary 5mm traction studs which provide loads of grip and stability in the swing.

I really felt like I could grab torque the ground with my feet which would help me increase speed and enhance stamina around the golf course. With 95% of golfers in the top 30 world golf rankings wearing spiked shoes, clearly, players seek stable footwear and these shoes offer that combined with style.

The 19th hole

I’d be quite happy wearing these straight from the 18th green to the golf club bar no problem after a round of golf. They’re smart and styling and would absolutely receive complements from other fashion conscious golfers.

They are spiked so you wouldn’t wear them out and about socially like you can other Duca Del Cosma golf shoes, but the amount of grip they give you more than make up for this. They also are extremely waterproof with my feet remaining completely dry throughout the super wet round I played at Sand Moor.

I think the quality of the shoe absolutely justifies the price of the Duca Del Cosma Bernardo Pro Spike golf shoes. They have clearly been put together with the highest quality materials and will last you if you look after them. I just personally would only use them in spring/summer in the UK so as not to ruin them!

Callaway Epic Max driver review
Jack Backhouse

A member of the PGA for 13 years, Jack has lived golf for more than half his life. Inspired by Tiger Wood’s winning putt at the 2008 US Open, an obsession began with watching slow motion golf swings on the internet and reading What’s In The Bag articles in magazines.

Not destined for a life behind the desk in a pro shop, Jack has focussed more on coaching, working closely with regional teams in North Yorkshire and helping golfers of all levels on their journey to enjoying playing the game more. Jack has coached many junior golfers into the county teams, and once worked with a player at the 2018 Open Championship at Carnoustie.

After letting his game fall apart prior to COVID, Jack rediscovered his love for playing golf after joining Silloth Golf Club in 2020 and whipping round the windy, firm links course. Playing regularly with a half set of clubs he has a passion for shot making and developing skill, and claims to have the sharpest 30-100 yard game in the North of England (only because he doesn’t know anyone in the South), and now maintains a +1 handicap at a club much closer to home, Sand Moor GC.

Jack has always tinkered with his equipment, once building his own Frankenstein one length set of clubs after watching Bryson DeChambeau burst onto the scene after winning the US Amateur. He firmly believes in getting custom fit and is happy to debate anyone about blade irons being superior to any other iron category.

Jack loves: playing quickly, 2 ball golf, match play, heathland courses, pencil bags, foursomes, Tiger Wood’s swing 2005-2009.

Jack hates: buggies, unnecessary trees, giving shots, the 7 iron loft debate, graphite shaft lovers weird superiority complex.
