As someone who has played blades for over a decade, I have always had a soft spot for the precision, feel, and feedback that only a true muscle-back can deliver. First Impressions
I learnt the game using a set of blade irons. I have no desire to use anything different, so it’s fair to categorise me as a big fan. All the more reason to be excited for this Tour Edge offering then. The Exotics line has been impressive so far. I found the drivers were a joy to test, but these MBs had caught my attention a touch more.
First impressions couldn’t have been much better in truth. They are compact, beautifully shaped, and look every bit the traditional muscle-back blade. Positively, the profile at address is confidence-inspiring. It is compact but not intimidating. The leading edge isn’t razor thin, which makes the club look more inviting behind the ball, particularly for players who love blades but aren’t as consistent of a ball striker as the better players.
I do slightly wish that top line could perhaps be a touch thinner for that ultra-classic player aesthetic. But overall, this set has serious bag appeal and looks every inch a premium forged product.
On-course performance
During testing, I thought the performance was right in the ball park of what I would expect from a well-designed forged blade. I tested the 9, 7, and 5-irons, and each performed consistently in terms of distance and feel.
The 9-iron carried around 135 to 140 yards, which is a very good return for me. The 7-iron averaged 160 yards of carry and rolled out to around 176 total, while the 5-iron produced a 187-yard carry and a 205-yard total. These are numbers I would want from a set of blade irons, so it’s nice to know they perform true to character.

I found the ball speed gapping between the clubs to be even, and the spin rates were healthy enough that I was able to hold the greens comfortably with approach shots. The descent angles and peak heights were also consistent, confirming that the lofts and specs are well balanced. I think that is a common occurrence throughout the set of these irons, is that they are very well balanced in terms of performance.
While most golfers don’t buy blades for their cutting-edge tech, Tour Edge has cleverly added a few touches to increase the playability. The VIBRCOR channel, which is a tiny cavity in the back of the head filled with TPU material, helps optimise the centre of gravity and improve the feel. It softens off-centre strikes without removing the crisp, responsive feedback that makes blade irons what they are.
The heads are CNC milled for precision grooves and consistent spin control. Combined with input from Tour players. I’m assured this is what makes the irons feel so beautifully balanced through the turf and at impact. So, this can definitely stay.
To me, Tour Edge haven’t produced a set of blade irons trying to be a game-improvement iron. instead they are blades that reward a good strike while making the bad ones slightly less punishing.
NCG Verdict
Overall, the Tour Edge Exotics MB Forged irons are an outstanding option. They deliver the pure sensation of a true muscle-back while incorporating just enough modern refinement to make them playable for a broader range of skilled players.
They are certainly aimed at the better player, but I do think the majority of golfers can utilise these. The feedback is exceptional, the looks are timeless, and the value is almost unmatched in today’s market. Go give these a try!
