Golf distance measurement tools, or DMDs, first emerged in 1995 with the development of laser technology. Approximately five years later, GPS-based devices made their debut. Today, it appears that nearly every golfer owns at least one of these tools.

Cigman is a newer player in the industry, offering a variety of measurement devices designed for applications in surveying, construction, outdoor activities, and golf.

Their latest golf product, the CT-1200 Golf rangefinder, has just been released and features a larger screen for easy reading; clear optics; long battery life; water resistance; easy switching between different modes—such as slope and fast accurate measurements in just half a second.

But how did it perform? Let’s dive into our full Cigman CT-1200 golf rangefinder review

First Impressions

Right out of the box, the CT-1200 looks and feels like a quality device. It’s compact, lightweight and fits comfortably in your hand and golf bag. The textured grip ensures a steady hold even in the rain!

The carry case is functional however I believe it would be better with a magnetic flap instead of a zip as it can be a bit fiddly getting it out of the case.

On course testing

The CT-1200 lives up to its name, offering a maximum range of 1200 yards with and accuracy of ±1 yard. It’s fast and responsive, with laser targeting that locks on quickly, I found it easy and helpful to use.

The 6x magnification was helpful in flag finding and locating hazards. This function is one that I haven’t seen used in a lot of rangefinders.
A standout feature is the flagpole locking function, which vibrates when it locks onto a flag which is really useful when it is windy, cold and your hands are shaking! The unit also adjusts for slope, giving users more accurate readings in uneven terrain but don’t forget to check your local rules if this is allowed – it is easily switched on and off.
Even first-time users will find the CT-1200 easy to operate. It comes with a manual explaining everything you need to know and switching between modes is straightforward and happens just at the click of a button or two.

The LCD screen displays all necessary info clearly and the adjustable eyepiece accommodates users with glasses which as a glasses wearer I found incredibly useful as I sometimes find that eyepiece gets in the way and I don’t always have an accurate reading.

The device also powers down automatically after a few seconds of inactivity to save battery. Battery life is solid, and the CR2 battery provides months of intermittent use. It features an integrated battery that can be recharged via a standard USB cable when the battery does get low.

NCG Final Verdict

The Cigman CT-1200 Rangefinder is an impressive budget-friendly device that doesn’t skimp on core features. It delivers dependable performance in a compact, user-friendly package. While it may lack some of the high-end extras of more expensive units, for the price, it’s hard to beat.
