Adidas is constantly expanding its winter apparel range. The Adidas Statement Full-zip Hooded Vest is one of their latest autumn-winter pieces. So how does it perform?

Adidas Statement Full-zip Hooded Vest review: NCG Summary

adidas hooded vest
4 stars
NCG SUMMARY

The Adidas Hooded Vest is a good addition if you’re looking to add something a little different to your golf collection.

PROS

  • Comfortable material
  • Great fit and shaping
  • Made with recycled materials

CONS

  • Unique piece of clothing which might not be for every golfer

First Impressions

We’ve all wanted to try wearing a hoodie out on the course, especially since Tyrell Hatton stormed to victory at the 2020 BMW PGA Championship while wearing one.

This piece of clothing might not be the full-on hoodie experience, however, it is also a gilet, with a hood, what’s not to love? I know there are many golf gilet fans around the world – I’m looking at you, Alex Perry.

adidas hooded vest testing

The Hooded Vest contains two pockets at the front, which is handy for the many golf knick-knacks you carry around on the course.

If you’re someone who is conscious of their carbon footprint then the Statement Full-zip Hooded Vest is made using 100% recycled materials and highlights Adidas’ attempts to help prevent plastic waste.

On Course Testing

“The hood gets in the way of the swing”.

It doesn’t.

The Adidas Zip Hooded golf vest looks great, feels great, and offers fantastic freedom of movement in the golf swing, the most important part of purchasing a piece of golf clothing.

The Hooded Vest is also has a durable water-repellent finish which helps shed any light rain and even snow you may encounter out on the course over the winter months if you want to try your luck on even the wettest days of the year. The inside has a soft polar fleece lining to keep you warm in the coldest of conditions.

In the pictures, on a milder autumn day, the Hooded Vest was just combined with the Adidas Cold.Rdy Baselayer but can be combined with other layers of clothing such as 1/4-zips, without losing any restriction in your swing.

The 19th hole

Away from the course, I have combined the Hooded Vest with other jumpers or with Adidas’ Cold.Rdy 1/4 zip Pullover while venturing out of the house and it looks great!

Still a member of Pontefract with a handicap of 3, he currently sits on the board of directors to help with digital and marketing initiatives in order to improve membership and visitor income.

Matthew graduated university with a First Class in Sports Journalism from Leeds Trinity University and has been working in the golf industry since graduating.

Not one to change his equipment too often, Matthew currently plays the TaylorMade M2 driver which has lasted the test of time in his bag. Elsewhere, you’ll find him using the TaylorMade Stealth 2 three-wood with a Ping G425 Crossover 2-iron to aid his long game.

Through his 4-iron to Gap Wedge, Matthew uses the Ping i500 irons accompanied by Ping’s Glide 3.0 56-degree and 60-degree wedges.

Another club that has stood the test of time in his bag is a Nike Method Core MC-3i putter which has had to have the SuperStroke grip changed at least three times. Ball of choice is the Titleist ProV1.
