Hannah Holden has everything you need to know about this new range of woods from Cleveland

Cleveland Launcher XL fairway woods and hybrids

Fairway woods can be the most difficult clubs in the bag to hit so Cleveland have introduced some new combo models to make sure you have something you’re comfortable with. Let’s take a closer look…

Cleveland Launcher XL fairway woods and hybrids: First impressions

We have a clear design language across the range but I really like the fact there are three different models in different sizes to suit a wide array of golfers.

Cleveland Launcher XL fairway woods and hybrids: The line-up

The main fairway wood in the line-up and has the biggest and most traditional fairway wood shaping

This new addition offers a club that sets up like a hybrid but delivers fairway wood style speed and distance

Cleveland Launcher XL fairway woods and hybrids: The technology

The fairway woods and hybrids share a lot of technologies with the drivers in this range. They have large, oversized heads with lots of perimeter weighting to boost MOI and forgiveness.

On the sole though we see new glide rail technology. In the fairway woods this is two rails which run along the sole that are designed to help keep the face straight through impact for more optimal ball striking both off the tee and the deck. We see the same tech in the hybrids, but with three rails on the sole.

Again we see the rebound frame structure. There is a flex zone in the face and one in the body to sequence more energy into the golf ball. This increases ball speed and distance.

The top of the club features a HiBore Crown step. This is a stepped crown design which brings the height of the crown down which helps lower the centre of gravity for easier launch.

As we see in the rest of the range the clubs feature an 8g weight in the grip the deliver better balance and control.
