Ping Men’s Sensordry S2 Full Zip Waterproof Jacket – 40% off

5 star review
best waterproof golf jacket sale

Reviewed by Tom Bullough

Part of Ping’s Autumn/Winter includes the men’s DWR Sensordry S2 full zip waterproof jacket. It is available in three different colourways, all of which look really smart.

The Sensordry jacket is packed full of technology which is impressive considering how lightweight and breathable the material is. It makes it perfect for rolling up into your bag when not required but also lightweight to carry and wear.

The material consists of stretch and thermal properties to help with flexibility and keeping you warm on the course, but the breathability stops you from overheating which can often be a problem with winter apparel.

In summary, a great addition to your wardrobe if you’re in the market for a new waterproof jacket this winter. Really comfortable, looks great and most importantly repels water perfectly!

PROS

  • Comfortable
  • Smart
  • Practical

CONS

  • None

RRP – £130

SIZES: S-3XL

COLOUR: Euro Blue-Black / Mushroom-Black / Oxford Blue-Black / Firebrick-Ashphalt

Abacus Men’s PDX Waterproof Jacket – 50% off

5 star review
Best Waterproof Golf Jacket sale

Reviewed by Jonathan Taylor

The PDX jacket is part of the premium X-series rage from Abacus and offers both waterproof and insulating properties. Features include heat-pressed quilt at the front (for insulation), 4-way stretch fabric to the sleeves, back and sides, a drawcord adjustable stand-up collar, drawstring at the body bottom and two roomy front pockets with waterproof zippers. All this adds up to a seriously practical and useful piece of apparel. It has a waterproof rating of 15,000 and the same score for breathability. Those figures aren’t quite up there with the Pitch but they are pretty reasonable.

I tend to size up in Abacus outerwear and the Large fitted my 74kg, 173cm frame comfortably. On the course the PDX works well in appropriate conditions, namely the cooler and showery conditions so common for golfers in the UK. It is really comfortable to wear and works well over a base and midlayer. Due to the nature of the PDX, it’s very much an outer garment, so I don’t think it would work so well in heavy, persistent rain. That said, it’s another strong offering from Abacus and will get plenty of use on and off the course.

PROS

  • Premium construction
  • Warm and waterproof
  • Stretchy and breathable

CONS

  • Bulky to stow away

RRP – £249 / $420

Sizes: S-3XL

Colours: Navy / Black

Ping SensorDry S2 Pro Jacket – 40% off

4.5 star review
Best Waterproof Golf Jacket sale

Reviewed by Ross Bousfield

The first thing I noticed when putting on the PING SensorDry S2 Pro Jacket was the brushed tricot inner lining which provides both additional comfort and warmth. The only issue I did have with the lining, albeit a minor one, was it meant having to take my glove off to put the jacket on which is not ideal when it is raining.

A feature I did like was the adjustable nature of the collars, neck and the shock cord on the hem, all of which felt like they were all contributing to minimising the opportunity for water to encroach.

The jacket has a classic aesthetic and comes in a choice of colours meaning there should be something to suit everyone. Most importantly the PING SensorDry S2 Pro Jacket performed well in wet weather and allowed a freedom of movement that meant the golf swing was completely unrestricted, something I have not always found in other waterpoof jackets.

PROS

  • Freedom of movement
  • Lightweight
  • Waterproof

CONS

  • Inner lining makes it hard to put on while wearing a glove

RRP – £180

SIZES: S-3XL

COLOUR: Black/Asphalt, Classic Blue/Black, Oxford Blue/Black, Poppy/Asphalt

Oscar Jacobson Greylands Waterproof Jacket – 40% off

5 star review
Best waterproof golf jacket sale

Reviewed by Tom Bullough

After trying multiple waterproof jackets for the season ahead, the Oscar Jacobson Greylands option is by far my favourite. Lightweight, highly breathable and has an excellent design.

I tested the jacket over a couple of rounds, and whilst I don’t particularly enjoy playing golf in the rain, for round one, it did make for suitable testing conditions for the Greyland jacket! The garment performed excellently, and the taped seams and waterproof zipper kept me perfectly dry. Performance when playing wasn’t affected, despite being so water-tight there is ample mobility from the top to bottom of my swing.

Personally, I am a fan of plainer colours on the golf course, but this black and pewter option was still very easy on the eye.

Additionally, the subtle OJ branding on the front and back, and hidden zipped pockets give the product a very premium and clean finish. Another helpful addition is the velcro straps on either side of the jacket are great for adjusting the tightness of the jacket around your stomach area.

PROS

  • Stylish
  • Extremely water resistant
  • Wearable for golf and day-to-day life

CONS

  • No inside pocket

RRP – £159.99

SIZES: S-3XL

COLOUR: Black/ Pewter & Blue / Cobalt

Men’s Under Armour Drive Rain Jacket – 40% off

4.5 star review
Best waterproof golf jacket sale

Reviewed by Max Mcvittie

This rain jacket is a best-selling piece of waterproof clothing that is an all-weather jacket. I found it ideal for battling cold and drizzly days, where you need a layer of protection against the elements but don’t want to restrict your swing movement.

The main attraction of the jacket is its storm technology for waterproofing and wind proofing. Having a jacket that doesn’t flap around in the wind is certainly a big plus. No unwanted distraction whilst standing over address at a shot.

Aiding to the jacket’s waterproofing, Under Armour has fully taped seam sealed the raincoat. I found the waterproofing to be really effective.

The jacket has all the other features you would need to play winter; adjustable hand cuffs, full-length zip and secure hand pockets.

Under Armour’s Drive Rain jacket is also suitable for use away from golf. Its modern design and waterproofing means it can be used for other outdoor leisure activities.

PROS

  • Clean, crisp styling
  • Storm technology
  • Lightweight and great breathability

CONS

  • A touch expensive

RRP – £140 / $185
