IB Sweet Spot Quaternion Golf Putter
You certainly won’t mistake this for a traditional blade. The Quaternion’s cylindrical, space-age look stands out immediately. It’s symmetrical front-to-back and left-to-right, a design that allows it to be used by both right- and left-handed golfers. While that might sound like a novelty, it stems from a serious engineering aim which is to achieve total balance and zero torque through impact.
The sound and feel at impact on the golf ball are excellent. You are met with a crisp, sort of popping sound that feels both solid and responsive. The graphite shaft dampens harsh vibrations without feeling dead. It offers pleasing feedback on well-struck putts.

Over the 3 rounds I used it for, I was pretty happy with my performance and hit some great putts. I initially had a tough time aiming, but this settled down once I properly lined the ball up.
You can feel that the putter doesn’t want to rotate open or closed throughout the stroke, which makes knocking in short putts really easy. This putter is great for golfers who are new to the game and want a putter that promotes better technique and for players who have putted poorly for a while and need to try something new.
The best short putters generally have the smallest amount of face rotation throughout the stroke, so if you want help achieving this, then this is the putter for you.

Odyssey Ai-One Milled Six T Putter
Even before the putter comes out, the headcover is a piece of art. The navy, gold and white design screams quality, and with a magnetised lock and fur-lined inside, it is high-quality.
Then you see the putter itself, and it looks sublime. The dark navy finish is sleek and stylish, while the champagne-coloured milled insert is exquisitely designed and fitted.
As an amateur golfer, putts do not always come out of the centre of the face. The Ai-One series helps with this, and it helps significantly. The AI technology used, similar to that in the Paradym Driver range, has been designed to help off-centre strikes remain more consistent in terms of distance. Obviously, putts right off the centre of the face will still go further, but the difference between well-struck putts and badly-struck putts will be minimised.

Due to how well-balanced the head feels, I also felt more confident over longer putts. With a longer swing, there is more of a tendency to miss the centre of the club face, but that AI technology continued to work well, with 90% of putts finishing within a similar distance from the hole (the other 10% being poor putts on my behalf).

Mizuno M.Craft X 4 Putter
Firstly, regardless of the style I love the interchangeable concept. I think it gives so much option to a player.
I tested the P4 version, which has a plumbers neck and a mallet style head shape. This is the sort of head shape I prefer and it sat nicely behind the ball. The overall look was very sleek. The head does come with the option to change the weights, I had the 7’s in and would have probably preferred something slightly heavier.
The lampkin grip was a nice shape and feel. The head cover was also very well designed, looking great and having a magnetic fasten.

Wilson Infinite Bucktown Putter
This putter may well be aimed at those looking for a budget option but the Bucktown significantly outperforms its price point. Its high-quality milled face, great balance, and forgiving grip promotes confidence and a feeling that you’ve got a chance of getting the ball to the target with a good stroke.
The milled face is exceptional. The ball feels a touch firm off the surface but that is an adjustment quickly made. I’d also say it’s not necessarily as forgiving to major mishits. If you hit this off the bottom grooves you’ll notice a big difference compared with putters that use descending loft technology.

TearDrop TD-7 Putter
I felt confident with the putter after only a few short putts. The ball seemed to roll nicely of the putter face and make a lovely sound. With how well balanced the head fells, I was able to hit the majority of the balls from the middle of the face. This meant I was also able to hit my puts on their intended line frequently. With the levels of forgiveness the putter has, it didn’t seem to matter if I hit the ball out of the middle or not, the results were similar.
The putter also comes with a nice thick grip and at purchase you can choose from three different varieties of SuperStroke grips or one of two Teardrop grips. I used the Tour 2.0, and it felt extremely comfortable in my hands, which I felt helped with the accuracy of my putts.

Zebra Milled Series 003
This is a well-constructed and designed putter with a premium look and it does provide a quality alternative to the usual suspects , and it also comes in at a reasonable £249.99 which is almost half the price of some competitor brands.
On the course I felt that the 003 offered straightforward alignment for all types of putt, and I’m definitely in the camp that prefers some sort of alignment assistance when putting.
I also found distance control easier to achieve compared to the 004, probably due to the more forgiving head shape.

Short putts felt automatic, a product of both the mallet’s stability and the crisp feedback from the face. On longer efforts, the consistent roll and reliable distance control was noticeable. You really do get the feeling the putter is working with you.

I think Cleveland’s HB Soft 2 Black 8S putter is a top-tier performer that doesn’t break the bank. It combines great feel, useful forgiveness, and modern looks in a compelling package. I’ve had this putter in the bag now for a few rounds and absolutely love it. I love the stealthy black shaft and black grip. The parallel and perpendicular aiming aids are helping me hit my start lines a lot more often than before, and I feel like a robot inside 5 feet which is amazing.
The grooved hitting area makes you feel like the sweet spot of the putter is huge, so you don’t really think much about miss-hits. Evnroll have added loads of adjustable weights onto the bottom of the head so that it can be swing weighted perfectly to your desired feel in a fitting session, which is not something many brands can offer you.

Scotty Cameron Super Select Newport putter
When has anyone’s first impressions of a Scotty Cameron been at all bad? This putter screams extreme quality as soon as you get your eyes on it, and then that feeling is backed up when you first get it in your hands. I think the new I-Beam neck design looks great, and I personally prefer the silver dots on the back of the head compared to classic red.
I love that Scotty Cameron don’t overdesign the putters and keep them really simple. The blade putters look great and have done for many years, so there’s no point in making changes for change’s sake.
There are some subtle differences between this year’s Super Select model and last year’s Special Select. The new I-Beam neck design has allowed them to save weight and move it closer to the head’s perimeter, making it more forgiving.
The cavity dots on the back of the face have also had a slight upgrade; they’re now larger, meaning there is less weight in the centre of the putter and more near the edges. This doesn’t really sound like an upgrade, but as amateurs are not the most consistent ball strikers, it’s actually a good deal.
I had great fun testing the new Newport. I was practically skipping around the green at the Titleist Performance Centre at Woburn, knocking in 5 and 6-footers for fun. I don’t often think about the sound a putter strike makes, but everything about it was brilliant.

TaylorMade TP Black Balboa Putter
This isn’t just a pretty putter though, the Balboa delivers where it counts. It’s the most toe-hang biased model in the TP Black range, making it ideal for players with a strong arc in their putting stroke. The classic blade shape, reminiscent of models once used by legends like Nick Faldo and Phil Mickelson, demands some skill but rewards it generously.
In testing, the putter impressed with its feel and flow, especially on longer putts. The balance and weighting lend themselves beautifully to lag putting. I felt the putter seems to swing itself, making the stroke feel natural and repeatable.
For short-range putts, I found the long alignment line helps dial in accuracy, ensuring confidence over those must-make testers.
The grip is high quality, as you’d expect from a top-end TaylorMade product. To me it offers excellent traction and comfort, complementing the overall balance of the putter.
But perhaps the most compelling feature of the TP Black Balboa is its price. It offers serious value for money. Getting tour-grade tech and premium build quality in this price bracket is rare and, in my opinion, makes the Balboa stand out in a crowded marketplace.

TaylorMade Spider Tour X putter
The new tech in the Spider series is the steel wire frame construction, which has allowed the engineers to precisely locate the centre of gravity in places to give the golfer the best roll. It also has a new Hybrar echo dampner behind the face to improve feel. This is the same material used in the Stealth and Stealth HD irons that removes unwanted vibrations on poor hits.
It is nice when brands keep in technology that works, and that’s what they’ve done with the Pure Roll insert that rose to fame with the original Spider X putter. Moulded from a Surlyn material, it delivers the Spider feel we all recognise, with grooves that are angled 45° downward to help impart better topspin and an end-over-end roll.
I really enjoyed the feel of the putter on impact, it is a lot softer than the TP reserve putter I am using that doesn’t have a face insert, and it also has a good sound too. In testing I was quickly able to get used to the softer launch speed and control distance nicely. The Spider Tour X is so stable on misstrikes tso you do generally get good distance regardless of contact point, which is the help we all need.

Odyssey Ai-One Milled Seven T Putter
Taking the headcover off this putter gives you a special kind of feeling. The navy blue finish on the head contrasts well with the champagne-coloured insert, with the whole thing just feeling really expensive. The white lines on the top of the head contrast really nicely against the navy, making the putter easy to point at where you want to go.
I really like that this putter has interchangeable sole weights. Every golfer has a different style and putt on different greens, so having this option to dial in your feel is a nice touch from Odyssey.
I started my test in the obvious place – 40-foot putts. on such a long swing, I was pleased with how well-balanced the putter swung. I have quite a soft wrist putting stroke that allows me to feel the weight of the head more, and it felt great on putts of this length.
I used this putter in an entire 2-hour practice session and got to grips with the feel from the face. I am not a robot, so it is hard to say how much exactly it improved my distance control, but Odyssey say it can improve your lag putting by as much as 20%, and those sort of gains could completely change your season.
Go get fit for an Odyssey AI-One Milled putter; you will not regret it.

Rife Black Edition 007 Putter
In hand, I thought the 007 felt solid and balanced. The soft face delivers a muted impact sound, particularly noticeable on longer putts. This might take a little adjusting to if you’re used to a firmer strike. That said, once I was dialed in, the feel on both short and long putts was very confidence-inspiring.
Adding to that, the Roll Groove Technology across the face is another subtle but vital innovation. By encouraging a quicker forward roll, it reduces skid and bounce, with the ball staying its intended line, even on longer putts.
On the greens, it became clear to me that the Rife 007 Black Edition is a performer. My short putts felt incredibly stable, with the high contrast alignment helping greatly under pressure. On longer efforts, the soft face requires a bit of adjustment to get the speed dialed in, but the forgiveness offered by the higher MOI is tangible.
