The TaylorMade Tour Response golf ball is a mid range golf ball in both price and design that still offers tour performance quality. I put it to the test to find out how much performance I could get out of it.

TaylorMade Tour Response golf ball review: NGC Summary
The TaylorMade Tour Response golf ball is a great mid range golf ball that offers consistent performance at a reasonable price point. Higher ball speeds off the face and control and soft feel around and on the green means this is great for someone with a mid range swing speed.
- Increased ball speed
- Control around the greens
- Softer feel off the putter face
- Fast swing speeds may struggle for distance
- Not as much spin as alternative mid range balls
TaylorMade Tour Response golf ball review: First Impressions
The TaylorMade Tour response comes as a standard ball with an arrow logo around the side but there are some different design and colourway options available.
You can choose between the regular white or yellow colourways and there is also a new unique stripe design. This works great as an alignment aid off the tee or on the green where you can see if the ball is rolling consistently.
This stripe won’t be for everyone but I like how the Tour Response gives you three different options across the range to pick what you visually like as a golfer.
TaylorMade Tour Response golf ball review: NGC Verdict
I was interested to try the TaylorMade Tour Response especially off the tee to see if the soft cast urethane cover and the ball structure designed for slower swing speeds would affect my distance or not.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that I didn’t lose any yardage with my irons or woods. I did feel I got a little less carry distance with my driver but my rollout was comparable to my regular golf ball. Overall the ball speed off the face was great. I didn’t play on a really windy day but I feel this ball could hold up in the wind and keep its stability.
The spin of the TaylorMade Tour Response was good but not great. I was able to still spin and stop mid to short irons and wedges on the green with ease but not so much my long irons which is what you would expect from a mid range ball. The good thing is that the compression required for this golf ball to perform at its maximum is lower. Therefore, for someone with a mid swing speed they will be able to get spin out of the golf ball without sacrificing distance.
The feel of the TaylorMade Tour Response is a perfect medium. I felt very in control around the greens when chipping and with pitch shots but I particularly liked the soft feel off the putter face. Some golf balls are too soft and never seem to get to the hole and others spring off, but the TaylorMade Tour Response gave me consistent roll and distance control without having that rock solid jumpy feeling off the face. This feel on the green alongside the new stripe alignment design could really increase your putting performance.
Overall, I was impressed by the TaylorMade Tour Responses ability to keep up a high standard of performance both on long shots and especially around the green. The performance aspects such as spin and distance will not be comparable to top end balls but this is definitely at the top end of the mid range balls available.
