Fujikura is taking its mission beyond the professional ranks by backing a grassroots movement that’s reshaping the face of golf.

The Carlsbad-based company has partnered with UNDERRATED Golf, the purpose-driven tour founded by NBA legend Stephen Curry. They will support its 2025 season across the United States and Europe. Their shared aim is to provide underrepresented and overlooked junior golfers with the same opportunity, access, and resources afforded to some.

Launched in 2022, the UNDERRATED Golf Tour is committed to breaking down the barriers, that prevent many young people from taking up golf. A lot of these barriers are financial, cultural, and geographic. With less than 2% of golfers identifying as Black or LatinX, the initiative is focused on closing the gap and broadening the sport’s appeal.

The 2025 schedule has already taken players to Eisenhower Golf Club in Colorado, French Lick Resort in Indiana, and PGA West in Palm Springs. The final stop of the regular season will see young talent compete at the iconic TPC Sawgrass in Florida. The event will take place from August 4–6. Then the top 24 boys and girls progressing to The Curry Cup at Liberty National Golf Club in New Jersey.

Additionally this initiative also attempts to close the gender gap. They re looking to provide girls and young women with the same opportunities young men are privy to in golf.

Fujikura’s involvement runs deeper than branding. The company is present on site throughout the season, offering professional-grade shaft fittings. These are often only accessible to elite professionals and now can be accessed by the young competitors.

According to Fujikura President and CEO David Schnider, it’s about empowering the next generation, he said: “While Fujikura has built a name for itself helping the game’s top players compete in the game’s biggest events, we pride ourselves on being a brand that is here to help all golfers elevate their game.”

“It is important for Fujikura to support the UNDERRATED Golf Tour because it is helping shape the future of golf. By amplifying its mission, they are giving players the same access to the best equipment and custom-fitting benefits that are trusted by the top players in the world.

“That kind of exposure can inspire confidence, elevate talent and help drive meaningful growth in diverse, underrepresented communities.”

Golf content creator and Fujikura ambassador Will Lowery, is also on board with UNDERRATED Golf. He has been a vocal supporter of inclusion in the game.

Max Mcvittie

A bit of a late bloomer to the game of golf, Max fell in love with the sport when he attended Saturday coaching sessions down at his local golf club after being inspired by friends and family members.

Max has remained a member of Eden Golf Club in Carlisle for a number of years now as he looks to get his handicap down into single figures. Most of his golfing career has been spent battling a permanent slice off the tee, which has led to some ugly rounds.

Having studied at the University of Sunderland, Max is starting out his dream career in sports journalism. During his time at university, he picked up valuable work experience at Reach PLC, BBC Radio Cumbria and GiveMeSport, whilst also getting work published in the Teesside Live. He also spent time working at a local weekly newspaper, Eskdale and Liddesdale Advertiser, as a general news reporter partially covering some local sport just north of the border in Langholm.

Max has just started his journey with the NCG working as the assistant equipment editor. He looks forwarded to reviewing the latest golf equipment, taking up an interest in reviews when buying his first golf club, a Cleveland RTX wedge.

With his bag not going under too many changes throughout the last few years, Max carries an M3 driver, Titleist GT3 Fairway Wood, M2 hybrid, a set of M2 irons, Callaway Jaws wedges and a TaylorMade Spider putter. And yes, Max is a bit of a self-proclaimed TaylorMade fan boy.
