Texas Children’s Houston Open Golf Betting Tips

It’s the first of two weeks of golf in Texas for the PGA Tour with the Houston Open, but who are our betting tips for glory?

The Texas Children’s Houston Open returns to the PGA Tour calendar for the first time since 2022, when Tony Finau was the victor with the lowest aggregate score in the tournament’s history.

The tournament returns to Memorial Park for the 17th time in its history, and with some of the best players in the world taking centre stage.

Who will win? Matt Coles takes a look at this week’s action…

Texas Children’s Houston Open golf betting tips and preview

Venue: Memorial Park, Harris County, Houston, Texas, United States

Course stats: Par 70, 7,432 yards
Defending champion: Tony Finau – 2022 (-16)

Wyndham Clark @ 12/1 with bet365

If it hadn’t been for the World No 1, and for THAT horseshoe on the 18th at TPC Sawgrass, then Wyndham Clark may well have won the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Players Championship.

Instead, he comes into the Texas Children’s Houston Open having finished runner-up in both events. Add in a win at Pebble Beach earlier in the season, and Clark is arguably the second best player in the world right now. Can he get the better of Scheffler this week and win at Memorial Park? 12/1 says he does…

Keith Mitchell @ 40/1 with bet365

The best dressed man in golf is due a PGA Tour win, surely? Keith Mitchell held a two-shot lead going into the final round of the Valspar Championship on Sunday, but was unable to get the job done, with Peter Malnati coming through to take the win.

Although he fell away on the final day at Innisbrook, it was the fifth top-20 finish that Mitchell has achieved in 2024. It has been more than five years since his last win on the PGA Tour. 40/1 says that run comes to an end in Harris County this week.

It might not surprise you to know that World No 1 Scottie Scheffler is the favourite this week, at an incredible 3/1.

What else is going on in the world of golf this week?

There isn’t just action from the PGA Tour this week, with four other events on major tours being held around the world.

The DP World Tour returns to New Delhi for the Hero Indian Open. The DLF Golf & Country Club is the host once again, for the seventh edition of the event as a DP World Tour tournament.

The LPGA Tour features a first-time event, as the Ford Championship presented by KCC makes its debut appearance on the calendar. The Ladies European Tour (LET) is into the first of a two-week stint in Australia. The NSW Women’s Open will be held at Magenta Shores.

The PGA Champions Tour sees the Galleri Classic played out at Mission Hills Country Club, the former host venue of the ANA Inspiration (now Chevron Championship).

Who will take victory at these tournaments? Check out our picks for success below…

Alison Lee @ 25/1 to win the Ford Championship presented by KCC with bet365

Alison Lee golf betting tips

There is no venue form for the Ford Championship presented by KCC, with it being the inaugural edition of the tournament on the LPGA Tour. However, following her 3rd place finish at the FIR Hills Seri Pak Championship on Sunday, this could be Alison Lee’s week! She is 25/1 to win in Arizona.

Anirban Lahiri @ 22/1 to win the Hero Indian Open with bet365

Having spent the last two seasons in the LIV Golf League with Crushers GC, Anirban Lahiri is returning home to play on the DP World Tour, and I fancy the Indian to win his national title. He is 22/1 to take a first victory in nine years, dating back to his win at this very event in 2015.

Anne van Dam to win the NSW Women’s Open with bet365

Anne van Dam is the longest hitter on the Ladies European Tour. That will be an advantage in New South Wales this week, and it will help the Dutchwoman to secure a sixth LET title.

Odds for the NSW Women’s Open are not live yet. As soon as they are, we will update this with the odds for Anne van Dam to be victorious in Australia.

Miguel Angel Jimenez @ 12/1 to win the Galleri Classic with bet365

Miguel Angel Jimenez has top tens in each of his last three PGA Champions Tour events, including a 3rd place finish at the Hoag Classic on Sunday. The mercurial Spaniard is 12/1 to secure a first victory since the summer of 2022.

Mention a European country, and Matt will tell you which resorts make the National Club Golfer Top 100s: European Resorts list. He might even throw in who designed the golf course and how many rooms the hotel has got at each one…

Matt got into the game of golf from a young age, following his old man to the local golf club. He fell for the sport, and now can’t seem to go a day without thinking about how to improve his game (Thanks Dad!). Matt has been a member of Howley Hall GC in Leeds since 2020, and is just about managing to maintain a single-figure handicap. He likes to remind people that he once broke 75, but won’t tell people that it was on a shortened course during the winter.

He moved to Leeds after graduating from the University of Central Lancashire with a First Class Honours degree in Sports Journalism. Matt joined NCG after almost five years travelling the world with the Professional Squash Association, working on events in all four corners of the globe.

Matt currently plays a Cobra King LTDx driver and RadSpeed 3-wood. TaylorMade monopolise the rest of his bag, with a SIM UDI, M5 irons and both Milled Grind and HI-TOE wedges, along with a Monza Redline putter. He uses a Vice Pro Plus golf ball, because he’s a bit different…

Away from golf, Matt is a Manchester United fan, and a keen runner, having ran the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon (his first and possibly last), in May 2023.
