I was desperately unlucky that Adrian Meronk was so impressive at LIV Golf Riyadh, as all three of my selections performed valiantly under the lights in Saudi Arabia.
Jon Rahm, Dean Burmester and David Puig all finished in the top six, with the latter doing so at big prices. I hope you picked up a few each way pennies. We’re back in Adelaide this week for the most raucous event on the Saudi-backed circuit.
We have just had the Phoenix Open on the PGA Tour, and this event is LIV’s answer to that. There is drinking, there is chaos and last year, the Rippers led by Aussie Cameron Smith delivered a team win in front of a home crowd against the South African Stingers in an exciting playoff.
As this is the third renewal of LIV Golf’s event in Australia at the Grange, we have some precedent for form at the golf course, so hopefully, this will help guide my column. I have three more selections this week in my LIV Golf Adelaide Betting Tips after hitting the bar three times last week in Riyadh.

Jon Rahm – 13/2
I’ll find myself tipping Jon Rahm a lot this year. But this is why. He can be found at 13/2 again, which is not far from the price he would be to win the Genesis Invitational this week, or any week, if he was still on the PGA Tour. Given there are only 54 players at a LIV event, significantly fewer than PGA Tour events, we immediately have value.
A couple of bad putts towards the end cost Rahm challenging Meronk at the top of the leaderboard in Riyadh, but he has still finished in the top 10 of every LIV appearance. He was only tied for 15th in fairways hit and tied for 18th in putting average as well, so there is room for improvement despite finishing tied for second.

I’d be a little sceptical about how Rahm copes with the raucous crowd. He has already spoken about fans being so tight to the fairways, and he is very easily agitated. However, he did come tied for third in Adelaide last year, so the atmosphere at the Grange didn’t take its toll that time.
He is still ranked fourth in the Data Golf rankings, unsurprisingly the highest-ranked LIV Golfer who is still excelling in each part of his game when compared to PGA Tour stars.
Anirban Lahiri – 66/1
Anirban Lahiri has been a solid LIV Golfer since he joined the league in 2023. He came second twice and third once in 2023 and he also came second at Valderrama in 2024. He clearly has no issues with contending at top venues.
Lahiri came tied for 14th in Adelaide in 2023 and second in 2024. He has a good record at the Grange and he has found himself part of a solid team with the Crushers, captained by Bryson DeChambeau. He came 16th in the individual LIV standings last season which included four top-10s
Lahiri has made a solid start to the 2025 season. Before coming tied for 12th in Riyadh, he came tied for 10th at the International Series India at a tough and quirky venue in DLF. Lahiri has found form and statistically, his putting and scrambling were superb in Saudi Arabia last week.
He found just over half of the fairways though and only made 13 birdies which ranked low in LIV’s opening week. There is plenty of juice in this price for a player who has played well despite there being room for improvement outside of his short game.

Charl Schwartzel – 90/1
Charl Schwartzel was one of the five players tied for third last year at the Grange. He also came ninth in 2023, so Schwartzel is at one with this venue. Schwartzel seemed to gradually settle during the first week in Riyadh, shooting 73, 70 and 68.
Those six birdies in the last round gave the former Masters champion food for thought. He has started slowly in the first few events of the last two LIV Golf seasons then found form. He played well in Adelaide in event four in 2023 and came tied for second in Jeddah in event three last year. Hopefully, he has removed the early-season cobwebs now.
At the back end of the 2024 season, Schwartzel played solidly. He came second at the International Series Qatar and tied for 15th at the Alfred Dunhill Championship. He had two top-three finishes in the LIV Golf League last season, so there is still quality in this 40-year-old.
Last year at the Grange, the Stingers lost in an exciting playoff against the Rippers, so there is no doubt Schwartzel and co. will be determined to right that wrong in 2025.
