Puma Pure Solid Polo
You would do well to make a more safe and solid investment in your golf wardrobe than this. The Puma Pure Solid Polo in white is very smart and could become a staple of your wardrobe for the spring and the summer.

There was complete freedom of movement when swinging my clubs and the moisture-wicking fabric is clear to see and to feel. The Pure Solid Polo has a classic look and feel to it. In a world where golf clothes are constantly evolving and shapeshifting, this top retains a sense of tradition and formality that will always serve a purpose in your wardrobe.

Adidas Ultimate365 Tour HEAT.RDY polo shirt
This is the ultimate summer polo shirt.
Adidas apparel generally offers more of a slim fit, even when they say it is a regular fit, and the Ultimate 365 Tour Heat.RDY polo is no different.
This polo offers a modern style collar which I really like, and the sleeves on the arms hug my biceps and make me feel like I’ve been to the gym more than I actually have. Thank you Adidas.
The polysester material is 100% recycled and super thin which is supposed to maximise airflow when it is hot to allow the golfer to stay comfortable throughout the round.
I like how light and unrestrictive it is whilst I swing and wearing it makes me feel like an athlete.
The colour is nice and bright and goes well with the rest of my wardrobe – which mainly consists of dark navy trousers and shorts!
In short – a great summer piece.
PROS
- Light
- Bright
- Keeps you cool
CONS
- Non slim fit Golfers might need to size up

Original Penguin All-Over 60s Floral Pete Print Golf polo shirt
You’ll need to like Pete, the Original Penguin logo, if you go for this bold polo offering. All-Over means exactly that in this 60s floral offering – the distinctive bird covers almost every inch of fabric.
Fortunately, I’m uber keen on such styling but there’s far more depth to this shirt than just a catchy design.
It’s moisture wicking, which I tested in 30-degree heat at Augusta National, is incredible – keeping your skin dry and cool even in the height of summer.
The fit was very slightly loose for me, but the fabric is also designed to stretch for those who might bring a larger frame for medium sizing.
I can be irritated by collars but this standard mix of polyester and elastane comforts, rather than rubs against the skin.
If you like to make a statement on the course, and want performance to match, you won’t go far wrong with this.
PROS
- Well-fitted
- Floral design is fun
- Wicks moisture extremely well
CONS
- Bold style may not be for everyone
RRP – £59.99
SIZES: S-2XL
COLOUR: Black Iris / Bright White / Blue Atoll

Adidas Ultimate365 Allover Pint polo shirt
The Adidas Ultimate 365 Allover print polo is a great addition to the spring summer wardrobe.
The light weight polyester/elastane material offers a more relaxed fit that helps keep you cool when the temperature and your play is hotting up.
It has a traditional collar that sits nicely under sweaters and comes in 3 different colours to match any outfit choice.
I love how light the material is as it doesn’t restrict at all when you are playing, and it feels to me like the perfect shirt for those hot days where you play 36 holes.
The pattern on the shirt is sharp and will liven up even the most conservative wardrobes without being garish.
You will catch me going straight from the golf course to the pub in this shirt as I think the style is casual and looks great for most occasions.
PROS
- Great patterns
- Comfy fit
- Super lightweight
CONS
- None
RRP – £45
Sizes: XS-2XL
Colours: Crystal Jade/Preloved Ink | Collegiate Navy/Preloved Ink | Ivory/Semi Spark

Farah Keller polo shirt
As part of their 2024 release, Farah have released their Keller polo. Farah’s releases this year have all been very impressive and it’s certainly a brand to consider when making your golf apparel purchases moving forwards.
I tested the Jester Red version of the Keller polo, and once I got over the imposter syndrome of wearing red on a golf course without breaking 80… I really grew to enjoy the fit and style of the shirt.
It has a nice tailored fit with a really clean finish, with just some subtle branding on front left chest and below the collar on the back it offers an ideal staple for your wardrobe this summer.
In summary I was really impressed with this polo, it looks smart for both on and off the golf course, comfortable fit and a really good price point – currently 25% off as well!
For those that also don’t want the imposter syndrome of a red polo, there is another four colourways available to choose from!
PROS
- Smart design
- Excellent price point – even before the 25% off!
- Good colour choice
CONS
- None
RRP – £39.95 – reduced to £29.99
SIZES: S-3XL
COLOUR: Red / White / Regatta Blue / Warm Apricot / Farah Teal

Puma Cloudspun Paisley polo shirt
This polo shirt is sure to catch the eye on the golf course. The Cloudspun Paisley Polo in Black-Aqua Blue has an extravagant design that will please some people but could scare some people off. The design is compounded by the pink strip that runs around the inside of the collar, too.
This makes a bolder statement than apparel I would typically wear but the feel and comfort of the polo shirt won me over. Much like the Pure Solid Polo and several other Puma top players, this item has a very soft fabric, and it barely feels like you have anything on.
The RRP of £55 is a little steep, especially when you compare this with the Pure Solid Polo, which is just £30-35. Having said that, at the time of writing it is available at £39 from Scottsdale (see price table below). This polo is very much suited to golfers who want a splash of colour in their wardrobe. The comfort and the feel of the item is great, so it is just a case of deciding whether the design is to your liking or not.
PROS
- Soft and lightweight
- Comfortable
- Something different for those that like a jazzy design
CONS
- Colour wasn’t to my taste
RRP – £55
SIZES: S-2XL
COLOUR: Black-Aqua Blue / White Glow-Zen Blue

Adidas Ultimate365 Tour Primeknit polo shirt
This shirt is for the modern player.
The striped primeknit build has been designed for ultimate range of motion and maximum stretch so that the golfer can play distraction free.
The sizing is quite slim fit and hugs my shoulders and arms nicely as if the time in the gym has not gone to waste.
I am a big fan of Adidas’s modern collar, it still looks very smart but slightly different which I like.
The Adidas Ultimate 365 Tour Primeknit polo is made from 70% polysester and 30% nylon, which provides a wonderful lightweight stretchy material that stays comfortable no matter how long you wear it for.
The semi blue burst colour is bright and livens up any outfit.
I expect this Summer you will see golfers wearing this straight from the course to the bar as the style carries well off the course too.
PROS
- Great fit
- Primeknit is super comfy
- Very light
CONS
- Lack of colour choice
RRP – £65
Sizes: XS-2XL
Colours: Semi Blue Burst / Orange
More info: Adidas Ultimate365 Tour Primeknit polo shirt
Callaway Short Sleeve All Over Golf Novelty polo shirt
The golf shirt market is pretty full. Is the Callaway Short Sleeve All Over Golf Novelty Polo something you should consider?
It is made from 56% polyester, 30% recycled polyester, and 14% elastane. It incorporates Callaway’s Swing TechTM technology, which consequently makes it extremely comfortable and minimises restriction when swinging. It is also ventilated to aid in keeping you cool.
It feels a high-quality item and this is reflected in its price, which at £50, I feel is about right. The novelty aspect refers to the all-over pattern. I am conservative in what I wear, but I really liked this, and it looked great on. Despite the pattern, it still had a classy look to it. I usually take XXL because I like a loose fit. The one I tried was XL, which was just about right, although neater than what I would usually wear. I would say they are pretty much true to size. So, the next time you are looking for a quality golf shirt, give these a whirl. I was extremely impressed.
PROS
- High quality feel
- Extremely comfortable
- No restriction when swinging
- Different looks are refreshing
- Machine washable
CONS
- Design might not be for everyone
RRP – £50
SIZES: S-2XL
COLOUR: White

Ping Arizona Cactus polo shirt
We see more and more print shirts every year when it comes to golfing attire. Ping have gone with desert plantation in their 2024 set, with the Arizona Cactus Polo. “Inspired by the home of Ping” – the company’s headquarters are in Arizona – this polo shirt is printed with cacti all over the front, back and sleeves of the design.
The cacti are darker than the shirt’s base colour in all four colourways – Aruba, Coronet, Grey or Rose colourway. The Arizona Cactus Polo is made from recycled materials and features SensorCool technology, providing golfers with comfort throughout a round of golf.
Not only is this a great polo for the golf course, but this is definitely a piece of clothing that could be worn on holiday in a tropical climate, at a beach party, or at many other summertime events. £55 to look stylish on or off the course – it’s a no-brainer, surely? Especially as at the time of writing, it is available in Scottsdale at just £37.99 (see price table below).
PROS
- Great design
- Range of colours
- Fits well
- Recycled material
CONS
- None

Sounder Long Sleeve Play Well polo shirt
I’m a huge fan of Sounder. It’s nice to have new brands that offer something little different to the other traditional golf brands. The guys and girls at Sounder sent me the new Play Well polo – nice name and let’s hope it works. The long sleeves suit me as I’m usually always cold. I also play a lot of links courses so the protection from the wind is nice with this long-sleeve.
All Sounder clothes are designed to fit comfortably, with enough room for a full swing of the golf club without any loose fabric getting in the way. This is certainly evident with the Play Well polo. The fit is roomy, and the fabric is high quality – it’s extremely comfortable.
The subtle branding is also a nice touch, with no big garish logos. This is a piece that you can wear away from the course – which I have done – and equally at home on the course. The look and fit might be too ‘modern’ for some traditionalists, but the Sounder brand push the golf stereotype just the right amount for me.
This is a quality-made polo. It’s almost slightly heavier than you’d expect—a bit like a hybrid of a polo and a sweater. The contrast collars and cuffs look nice alongside the hoops. It’s a quality garment.
PROS
- Heavier than a standard polo – it’s almost a sweater
- Price is good for the quality of the garment
- Nice, roomy fit with no fabric in the way
CONS
- The modern look and fit won’t be for some
RRP – £90
SIZES: XS-2XL
COLOUR: Charcoal-Off White / Off White-Deep Navy / Deep Navy / Sun Yellow

Oscar Jacobson Kotewall polo shirt
The Oscar Jacobson Kotewall polo is one of my favourites in the latest 2024 summer drop. This is an ideal wardrobe staple once the weather finally warms up for some summer golf. It’s lightweight, smart, and available in three colourways on the website. All are designed with the same OJ logo printed continuously across the garment.
I can imagine it will be a popular piece for many golfers this summer. It fits really well, is not too tight or baggy, and does not restrict movement throughout your golf swing.
In keeping with a typical English summer, the garment is cleverly designed with side vents to keep you cool on those hotter days whilst also constructed with fast-drying fabric to keep you dry throughout those inevitable summer downpours.
I will definitely use this item regularly in the year ahead. It ticks all the boxes for comfort, style, and practicality.
PROS
- Lightweight
- Comfortable
- Stylish
CONS
- Patterning may not be for everyone
RRP – £59.99
SIZES: S-3XL
COLOUR: Lunar Grey / White / Elemental

Glenmuir Irvine polo shirt
Having never worn Glenmuir before I can safely say I was pleasantly surprised. The Glenmuir Irvine golf polo shirt is designed with precision and style, it embodies the perfect fusion of functionality and fashion. From its lightweight, breathable fabric to its comfortable fit, every detail is designed to enhance performance and comfort. I am pretty much a standard XL across most brands, and the Glenmuir fit, for me, is generous, but I do prefer a looser to a tight fit. If you are a standard XL and prefer a tighter fit then an L size might be preferred.
Made with 88% performance polyester and 12% elastane it ensures you are cool and dry even during the most intense rounds, while the stretch material allows for unrestricted movement, ensuring any bad swings cannot be blamed on the polo shirt! The shirt also has a built-in +40 UV protection which is ideal for the warmer months in the UK or for golf trips abroad.
The anti-curl collar is also a lovely touch and makes you feel like you are wearing a quality item that has been well thought out from a design perspective.
I am not a massive fan of large logos plastered everywhere and so the subtle logo on the right sleeve is ideal. Nor am I a fan of ironing and so the fact that this item needs no ironing is a big plus for me. Just remember to do the wash at 30°C!
Overall, I love the design and feel of this Glenmuir Irvine polo shirt and would have no qualms wearing this on and off the golf course. Even my wife said it smartened me up and made me look a little more sophisticated! So, there is hope for us all and I would happily give this 5 stars out of 5. Three colour options are available direct from Glenmuir priced at £60 or from Clubhouse Golf there are two different colour options at £44.99.
PROS
- Love the design
- Breathable
- Comfortable to swing in
- +40 UV protection
CONS
- Might need to double check the size as is a generous fit
RRP – £60
SIZES: S-2XL
COLOUR: White-Black-Aqua / White-Navy-Hot Pink / White-Navy-Lt Grey

Adidas Go-To Printed Mesh polo shirt
The Adidas Go-To printed mesh polo shirt has quickly become my daily wear.
It is made out of 97% organic cotton and 3 % polyester jacquard, making it feel great against the skin with a touch of modern technical to make it great to play in.
I love the subtle textured camo pattern in the shirt that jazzes up my usual boring plain outfits, and the 4 colours the shirt is available in all would go with the colours in my wardrobe.
This shirt has a more relaxed fit than some of Adidas’s other spring summer shirts, making it the perfect top to play 36 holes on a hot summers day.
The traditional collar makes also makes it a great shirt to sit underneath a lightweight jumper.
You will see a lot of golfers at your club wearing this top this summer as it just such a joy to wear.

- Comfortable
- Breathable
- Great pattern

Stuburt Eider polo shirt
As part of Stuburt’s 2024 Golf collection, they have released the Eider polo. It has a lightweight, breathable design which was very comfortable to wear.
It is a tailored fit which looked smart without restricting any movement throughout the golf swing.
I do really like the design of the polo, I am never one to wear anything too outlandish on the golf course so this fits in really nicely as a solid staple for my golf attire this summer.
It is available in three colour ways, all with a simple but smart Stuburt logo on the right-side sleeve.
I usually wear an XL across most items and did find it just on the short side, admittedly I do prefer my upper garments to be slightly on the longer size so would opt for a XXL in the future.
Despite this small recommendation, this polo is an ideal option for both style, functionality and an excellent price point.
PROS
- Great price point
- Timeless design
- Comfortable
CONS
- Slightly short length
RRP – £27.99
SIZES: S-3XL
COLOUR: Khaki / Ash / Mist

Under Armour Iso-Chill Edge polo shirt
I’ve generally always worn Under Armour due to the ease in which it fits, I’ve always been a large in their sizing and this is no different and fits true to size.
When you pick up the Iso-Chill Edge Polo, you can really feel the difference compared to other regular golf polos with a more lightweight texture which comes from Under Armour’s Iso Chill fabric. All this ensures for a cool, dry experience on the course with moisture-wicking technology.
The four-way stretch material can be felt throughout the swing, offering a good range of movement and no restrictions on the swing.
There are a number of colour options to choose from with the Iso Chill Edge., and I’m a particularly huge fan of the colourway option I’m wearing in the above picture, it’s something a little different but the colours go great together.
In short, it keeps you cool and dry, protects you from the sun, and is a quality golf polo, what more could you want?

FootJoy Primrose Print Lisle Polo Shirt
At first glance I thought this shirt could be a bit garish for the golf course. However, I’m now beginning to think the different shades a pink petals combined with a navy background merge together very nicely to create an outgoing yet smart colourful shirt.
This colourful expression of a shirt has a cool, breathable fit to help you stay calm when you have that putt to win the monthly medal. This pattern is definitely not for the faint-hearted, but if worn with confidence, it can most definitely make for a brilliantly colourful shirt!
I am a size medium; however, this shirt is slightly baggy, but personally, I prefer that as I feel I can swing easily whilst wearing it. However, if you prefer a slightly tighter fit you may want to consider choosing a slightly smaller size.
PROS
- Not your typical pattern
- Good colour combination
- Breathable fit
CONS
- The combination of the bright colours and bold flower pattern may be too much for some

FootJoy Thistle Print Lisle Polo Shirt
I really like the contrast of the navy thistles to the turquoise base colour. This contrast is very nice on the eye and slightly dims the overall brightness of the shirt to a much more pleasant colour.
The stretchy, thin material of the shirt makes it breathable and cool which is perfect for summer golf. It is a great quality material and one that will not hug your body on the hot days of summer yet still provides an athletic fit on the course.
Like the Primose Print Lisle polo (above), the sizing is generous, but that is my personal preference. If you like a tighter fit, then consider a smaller size.
PROS
- Creative shirt pattern which has a good contrast
- Breathable yet athletic fit
- Very comfortable

- Might be a bit bright for some

Abacus Kingston Drycool Polo Shirt
Looking for a new polo shirt? Jonathan Taylor has put the new Abacus Kingston Drycool Polo shirt to the test.
Abacus is a Swedish golf apparel brand established over 30 years ago with a stated mission to make functional and smart clothing for the active golfer. The company has a new range of no less than ten styles of polo shirt out for 2024. One of these is the Kingston Drycool.
Out of the packet I was struck by the vivid design and wonderfully soft feel. The colour I tested was teal which is one of two options available. It’s essentially a white shirt with teal and orange dots which produces a fresh and interesting look.
The well-established Drycool fabric was very comfortable next to the skin, offering breathable and wicking properties.
PROS
- Extremely comfortable to wear.
- Striking design
- Premium quality
CONS
- Just two colour options
RRP – £60
Sizes: S-3XL
Colours: Teal / Ocean.

Ping Two Tone golf polo
SensorCool technology fabric. Performance stretch properties. Moisture movement. Crease resistant and quick dry. Recycled content. Anti-bacterial. It even shuts out ultra violet light.
This isn’t a golf shirt. It’s also apparently a miracle of textile engineering – all neatly wrapped up in sizes from small to triple-extra large.
Ping could probably have saved themselves a fortune by just using the words “extremely comfortable”. Because it is. And it looks stylish too. You can get this in various shades of blue and white and the navy/poppy multi option – which I took to the course – absolutely looks the part.
The pattern is eye-catching without being ostentatious and the deep blue is very fetching indeed. It’s lightweight, no doubt as a result of the polyester and elastane mix that makes up most golf polo shirts these days, and even though I like to wear my tops on the slightly looser side it does stretch seamlessly and without feeling like it’s going to cut off the blood supply to your major organs. Overall, it’s a great fit.
There is no denying this is a classy garment in the clubhouse, and it will come into its own over the coming weeks as I’m gradually shedding outerlayers in the warmer weather. It’s smart, but eye-catching, without being over the top. It’s well fitted, easy to swing in and, from what I’ve experienced so far, regulates temperature well.
PROS
- Comfortable and true to size fitting inspires a confident swing.
- Bold design is eye-catching without being over the top.
- Stretch fabric makes swinging a golf club a seamless experience.
CONS
- Despite anti-crease properties, you may still want to run an iron to ensure it looks its best.
RRP – £59.99 – now 50% off at Clubhouse Golf
Sizes: S-2XL
Colours: Danube/Infinity Blue Multi; Navy/Poppy Multi; White/Cool Lilac Multi; White Aquarius Multi.

Under Armour Playoff Printed 3.0 polo
Eagled-eyed golf viewers will have noticed Jordan Spieth wearing this Azalea-themed Playoff 3.0 Printed Polo during practice rounds at The Masters.
It’s an eye-catching special edition that will certainly make you stand out from the crowd, whether you’re wearing it at Augusta National or your home club.
Firstly, the polo fits incredibly well, I’ve always worn a large in Under Armour and this is no different.
In terms of performance, the Playoff 3.0 polo is exactly what you’d expect from Under Armour’s high-quality standard.
When wearing this on one of 2024’s rare warmer days, the moisture wicking technology really gets to work and keeps you cool and dry, and the four-way stretch material offers great range of movement.
Whether you think the “loud” pattern suits me, I’ll leave that one to the readers.
PROS
- 50+ UV protection
- Fits to size well
- Comfortable
- Loads of colour combo options

- Patterns/colour schemes might not be for everyone

J Lindeberg Tour Tech Slim Fit Polo Shirt
I have always been a J Lindeberg fan. In fact, I can remember the first JL waterproof jacket I ever had, and may even still have it. Their fit just seems to suit my slender frame so I’ve always had a small collection of it. One thing you notice with the brand is they only ever seem to be in the pro shops of top clubs.
It is 100% polyester and made from J Lindeberg’s premium fabric, TX Jersey™, and it has moisture-wicking properties, technical stretch, and an extra soft feel. Slipping it on, it feels light with a snug fit around the shoulders and arms, which I very much like.
The shirt was really comfortable next to the skin and to swing in. It fitted closely, but there was no restriction when swinging, so it was an absolute pleasure to wear.
I’ve worn it just by itself on a hot day and under a mid-layer in the wind and the moisture-wicking technology has ensured that I’ve remained cool and dry. It’s also long enough in the body to not become untucked if tucking your shirt in is your thing.
Although I have mostly worn this shirt for golf, I have enjoyed wearing the polo away from the golf club; such is the comfort and fit. So I think this is a polo that will get plenty of use over the summer. It’s comfortable, smart and stylish. I could quite happily order some more in other colours!
PROS
- Simple, smart design.
- Comfortable to wear.
- Good range of colours.
CONS
- Quite a small slim fitting; some golfers may need to size up
RRP – £75
Sizes: XS-3XL
