Motocaddy is back with its latest range of M-Series high-performance golf trolleys. Following on from previous generations, the M1 is Motocaddy’s entry-level M-Series trolley. The M1 follows the exact same frame build as it’s series counterparts, but that’s where the similarities end. I took the M1 to Scotland on a three-day trip to put it to the test.
The M1 Motocaddy electric trolley is a simple, no frills electric trolley. As the entry level model in the M-Series range, this trolley is designed for the golfer that doesn’t want any more than a sturdy motorised trolley.
With that said, Motocaddy has upgraded the M1 for 2024. You can now fold the front wheel in, meaning that it folds up more compact than previous models.
The M1 is now fitted with a shallower click ‘n’ connect battery, which can be charged in or out of the trolley. A fully adjustable handle also adds a nice personal touch.
Out on the course, it handled well. I enjoyed the simplicity and especially now much easier it is to store in my car boot!

I haven’t had much experience using a Motocaddy electric trolley, so I was interested in what the 2024 M1 model had in store.
Starting with the unboxing, I was pleased to see a very compact folded trolley. This folds up much smaller than my current trolley and all others that I have previously owned, which was a real positive. For reference, the folded dimensions are 650 (L) x 470 (W) x 410mm (H).
Assembling the trolley as Motocaddy novice took a little thought the first time with only one visible handles or lever, that moved the top part of the trolley. After a closer examination, the section below the handle/behind the battery pulls up to allow the frame to collapse. The front wheel folds inwards to create that compact shape. The small grey lever on the mid-section of the frame allows the handle to fold in.
Just like the rest of the trolleys released by Motocaddy this year, the battery can be left on the trolley or removed for charging. The click ‘n’ connect battery has a much thinner, shallower design than previous designs and can quickly and easily be popped in and out of the frame.
As an entry-level product, you don’t expect much tech and one of the nice things about the M1 is as it shares a framework with the rest of the series you still get the USB charging port. Now this might not be a feature everyone needs, but it’s certainly handy if you forget to charge your GPS device before a round or even if you’re having a quick 9 holes after work and haven’t had the chance to charge your phone.

Arriving at the golf course and assembling the trolley was pretty smooth all in all. To go with the M1 trolley, I had the new Motocaddy Pro Series golf bag. These two products have been designed to work together with Motocaddy’s EASILOCK® compatibility. Screws attach to the base of the golf bag, allowing it to sit flush into the trolley. This means no straps are required around the bottom of the bag and maximum stability is provided. Not once did I have to re-adjust the bag during my three rounds in Scotland.
As you can see from the picture above, the small LED screen is nothing flash. The only information given is the speed settings (0-9) and then at the bottom, a small-coloured scale displays the battery life. I can’t help but mention how speedy this trolley is. The simple round dial controls the speed by twisting and stop/start by pressing.
Speaking of battery life, this trolley comes with a standard lightweight lithium battery or for £50 upcharge you can get an ultra lithium battery. I used the ultra battery while away testing this trolley. After the first 18, I charged it and then between day 2 and 3 I didn’t. It successfully made it around 36 holes with some juice left in the tank, which I thought that pretty good considering the amount of clothes I had stuffed into my back in anticipation of the cold British weather.
Motocaddy offers an accessory station that includes a drinks’ holder, scorecard holder, umbrella holder and a GPS/Phone cradle. If you wanted, you could have all of these accessories on your trolley at once. I opted to use all bar the scorecard holder, but they’re pretty quick to take on and off, so easy to change.

I very much enjoyed my time using the M1 trolley. It was easy to use, not too heavy to turn or move, and I even got pretty speedy when it came to putting it up and down.
The well-loved M1 hasn’t lost its simplicity. A straightforward very little frills trolley provided a sturdy frame with great battery power.
Motocaddy has also released an M1 DHC electric trolley as per previous years. This upgraded model assists golfers with its automatic downhill control. Motocaddy M1 DHC comes with an electronic parking brake as well
This trolley and the charger come with 24-month warranty and the battery has 60 months.
