The PXG 0311 Gen 6 driver is PXG’s premium offering in the driver market in 2023, and PXG claims it is one of the longest drivers ever made. So how did we find it? Watch our PXG 0311 Gen 6 driver review to find out.
This driver has a super premium feel to it with its carbon fibre matte black crown, clean black and silver colour scheme and black shaft and grip.
A compact shape behind the ball, you feel like you are going to hit the ball miles at address and then the ball speed on the launch monitor backs up that feel. This is great option for players looking for maximum distance out of a new driver.

Hannah took a trip down to PXG’s UK fitting centre at the Drift Golf Club in Surrey and wasn’t just impressed by the kitted-out bay PXG permanently have there. The new 0311 Gen 6 driver has had a face-lift and now features an all-black carbon crown, a nice update from the black and grey racing stripe on the Gen 5. This certainly gives the driver a more premium feel, this will bring a lot of golfers back into the fold as it has a much more classic look to it.
The driver Hannah was fit for had a black shaft and black grip, which made the driver feel pretty stealthy and gave it some serious bag appeal. You stand over the ball and want to do the club’s aesthetics justice and hit it well.
The place to start with this driver is just how adjustable and detailed PXG’s custom fitting process is. There are 3 different loft options in the PXG 0311 Gen6 drivers, 7.5, 9, and 10.5 and the adjustable hosel can change the lie angle and loft depending on the golfer’s preferences.
The driver also has 3 adjustable weight ports on the sole, which can help dial in swing weight, ideal feel, and shot shape. More weight in the toe can help promote a fade bias, and more weight in the heel would promote draw bias. You really can put this driver in any golfer’s hands and build it in a way that can suit their game and help drive the ball better.
At first fitting, Hannah was hitting up on the ball 5 or 6 degrees on average, so she fit into their 7.5-degree head. This is a great option that practically no other manufacturers make for general consumers, and the driver produced some ball speed and distance numbers that Hannah had never seen before. With the PXG, Hannah achieved swing speeds of over 100mph, ball speeds of 150mph and huge carry distances.

The low loft gave Hannah optimal launch and spin, which wouldn’t have been possible with a 9-degree head lofted down, as this would have affected the face angle and messed the data up. A contributor to this is the new carbon fiber crown, which we didn’t have on the old Gen5 driver. This not only improves sound and feel but reduces weight from the top of the club, which allows PXG to redistribute it to areas that help make the driver forgiving as well as long.
Hannah was fit into the standard 0311 Gen 6 driver, but PXG do offer a 0311 XF Gen 6 driver, which has a slightly more shallow club face, a longer head and a bigger face, making it much more forgiving. The standard 0311 Gen6 driver has a teardrop head shape and a new face material. The new face is a Ti412 titanium allow, which is exceptionally strong and low elastic modulus, which helps the face deflect and and increases ball speed.
Hannah says in the video that the new face has a soft feeling, which she prefers over the firmer contact on some other low-spinning premium drivers. Another interesting note on adjustability is the adjustable hosel allows you to set the head up as 3 degrees flat, which is a nod to the better player who wants to try and eliminate the bad left shot.
Hannah really liked this driver, both in the test at PXG and also in the video at the second test. The ball speed numbers are impressively high and consistent, and the performance on mishits was pretty solid. She definitely recommends golfers in search of more distance from a new driver go to a PXG fitting and give it a go; they will be pleasantly surprised.
