The best waterproof golf jackets are the ones which can be used all-year-round but as we head into winter, we thought we’d pick out the standout new models from 2017.
You may be looking for one which you can whip out of your bag when caught in a shower or you may be after something which also works on that chilly Sunday morning walk in the countryside.
Or maybe you put style above everything else?
All of the jackets featured below also have matching trousers – often the most crucial element of a top-performing waterproof suit.
But waterproofs are very expensive so if you’re just in the market for a jacket that will keep you dry and look great on the course then look no further.
Best waterproof golf jackets – Galvin Green Achilles with C-Knit backer

The tech: The overwhelming market leaders for waterproofs have continued to innovate with materials, technologies and styles to stay ahead of their competition.
Their all-new, Japanese-made Gore-Tex fabric with C-Knit backer has a super-smooth hand feel and is designed to slide easily over garments underneath.
There’s also clever detail on the collar and sleeve of the jacket to prevent water sneaking in.

NCG verdict: We sent four readers to test the C-Knit suits out at Turnberry and you can read their verdicts here.
Yes Gavin jackets are expensive but there is incredible attention to detail and they are designed and built specifically for golf.
The black and yellow colour combinations in the 2017 AW Part 2 collection really stand out and have a stylish modern look.

Best waterproof golf jackets – FootJoy DryJoys Tour LTS

The tech: Previous FJ jackets have had as many as 24 panels and more than 27 seams. This has just five panels and six seams, reducing weight and bulk.
This jacket will work all year round. When conditions are cool, the jacket will maintain body heat and when conditions are warm, the fibres wick moisture away.

NCG verdict: Like many of FootJoy’s staff players, we first put this jacket to the test during the Open at Royal Birkdale. We found it lightweight and stretchy but it also kept the chill of the wind at bay.
It is lighter and more stretchy than the previous DryJoys Tour XP jacket yet more substantial and warmer than the lightweight DryJoys Select.
This jacket really gives you the best of both worlds and you’ll really appreciate how stretchy it is when you start swinging in it.

Best waterproof golf jackets – Under Armour Storm Gore-Tex Paclite

The tech: As worn by Jordan Spieth, the UA Storm Paclite suit is 100 per cent waterproof but remains incredibly breathable. Both the jacket and trousers also have a windproof construction to protect you fully from the elements.
They are made from a 2.5-layer bonded fabric with a durable, smooth exterior and a brushed interior.
NCG verdict: Quite tight fitting but very stretchy so movement isn’t restricted. Really feels like you’ve got an impenetrable shell on as the water just bounces off.
We’re big fans of the simple and clean design which really won’t put anyone off. You’ll feel like a proper golfer in this.
