I love Ping bags. They are, above all else, ruggedly built to last. I have Hoofered my way around Planet Golf for more years now than I would care to mention and I have never been let down by a Hoofer.

Generally, though, I have used full-size Hoofers because if you play through the sun, wind and rain as I often have then I figure you need all the pocket space you can get. So, how did I find this new Hoofer Lite carry bag, which is a little more compact? Find out in our Ping Hoofer Lite Stand Bag review.

Ping Hoofer Lite Golf Stand Bag review: NCG Summary

5 star review

NCG Summary

If you’re looking for a new lightweight stand bag, then the search can end here. It has lots of pocket space and a comfortable dual strap, making it easy to carry around the course. I can tell that it is lighter than a full-size Hoofer but it feels just as tough. It’s a great buy.

  • Rugged
  • Compact

First Impressions

This is a smart bag. I am not into bold colours but the flashes of yellow contrast nicely with the grey and black. I feared that I would struggle to find a place for all the things I like to carry around with me but I couldn’t have been more wrong. I am not sure how there is so much space but there is. I had no problem getting packed up and ready for action.

NCG Verdict

Apart from 14 clubs – I admire those who go out with a half set but it never feels quite right to take clubs out of my own bag. What if I need to hit a particular shot? If I were allowed, I would probably carry 20 clubs – there are quite a few bits and pieces I like to have with me on the course. In no particular order: balls, tees, gloves, markers, pens, spare batteries, a Bushnell laser, my trusty SkyCaddie SX550 GPS, a drink, valuables, sun cream that I rarely remember to reapply, a top of some sort, maybe a hat, two towels (not sure why) and a wet-weather glove. Potentially a snack too.

I got them all loaded in without issue and I was very happy with the way the clubs sat in the bag. I could get them in and out without difficulty.

I am well-used to the Hoofer strap and find it incredibly comfortable to wear so there were no issues there. You can easily put both straps on one shoulder should you only be travelling for a short distance. Let’s say from the green to the next tee, rather than on account of dunching a wedge.

I also find Hoofers to be very stable. There is nothing more aggravating than your stand bag falling over and your precious clubs clattering to the floor and taking little chips out of your bladed wedges.

It takes a serious gust or slope for the Hoofer to come to grief, especially if you sit it into the hill.

The Ping Hoofer Lite is a great support for all of your needs and leaves you to concentrate on the important business of enjoying your game.

Better still, it is less bulky than other stand bags and you do notice that lack of weight the longer the round goes on.

I am going to say that if you can’t fit all your gear into the pockets then you might want to look at exactly what you are carrying and why. Do you really need, for example, 18 balls and three spare tops to be with you at all times?

My advice for all those who carry is to get themselves kitted out with a Ping Hoofer Lite and have total confidence that it will be a long-term investment in your golf game.
