Zero-torque putters are very much the talk of the town over the last 12 months. Their presence of the professional tours has only grown, with JJ Spaun sinking one of the most iconic putts of the year to win the US Open with one. If you thought they were going to be a flash in the pan, you couldn’t have been more wrong. Now, one of the most accomplished putter brands has entered the low-torque era. And they are here with a bang!

Scotty Cameron is arguably the most significant name in the world of putters. They were also the only big brand left to release a low-torque putter line-up. That is until now. These are designed to promoting a square-to-the-path delivery whilst maintaining exceptional feel and feedback.

To find out how, here’s everything you need to know about the all-new Scotty Cameron putter line-up that could redefine what a low-torque putter is…

Scotty Cameron OC Low-Torque Putters: The Technology

The design of the Scotty Cameron OC putters is to, of course, deliver a low torque flagstick. They have set out to do this by positioning the shaft directly through the putter’s centre of gravity. This has managed to help reduce twisting during the stroke while preserving the feel and feedback often associated with Scotty Cameron putters.

Both models use Cameron’s chain-link face milling pattern. This is a precision-milled texture that softens sound and enhances feedback. In the Phantom 11R OC, this pattern extends across the entire face, while the Studio Style Fastback OC combines it with a Studio Carbon Steel (SCS) insert to achieve a similar soft yet responsive feel.

These putters also feature minimal shaft lean, with just one degree of forward lean to promote a natural setup and neutral hand position. This subtle adjustment is designed to help golfers see a clean topline at address, reducing any visual distraction that other putters can be guilty of to encourage a square impact position.

A heavier head weight, roughly 15 grams more than standard Scotty Cameron models, is also utilised. As a result it provides greater connection to the putting stroke. This is paired with a stiffer black shaft, engineered to complement the increased mass without dulling the feel, and a tapered Matador Mid grip for comfort and control.

Customisation is still strong as the new OC models allow players to adjust loft and lie angles without affecting torque performance. This flexibility ensures that golfers can fine-tune their setup to match their stroke and preferences.

Scotty Cameron OC Low-Torque Putters: The Line-Up

Scotty Cameron has released two putters as part of their first ever low-torque putter range; the Phantom 11R OC and the Studio Style Flashback OC.

About the author

Max Mcvittie

A bit of a late bloomer to the game of golf, Max fell in love with the sport when he attended Saturday coaching sessions down at his local golf club after being inspired by friends and family members.

Max has remained a member of Eden Golf Club in Carlisle for a number of years now as he looks to get his handicap down into single figures. Most of his golfing career has been spent battling a permanent slice off the tee, which has led to some ugly rounds.

Having studied at the University of Sunderland, Max is starting out his dream career in sports journalism. During his time at university, he picked up valuable work experience at Reach PLC, BBC Radio Cumbria and GiveMeSport, whilst also getting work published in the Teesside Live. He also spent time working at a local weekly newspaper, Eskdale and Liddesdale Advertiser, as a general news reporter partially covering some local sport just north of the border in Langholm.

Max has just started his journey with the NCG working as the assistant equipment editor. He looks forwarded to reviewing the latest golf equipment, taking up an interest in reviews when buying his first golf club, a Cleveland RTX wedge.

With his bag not going under too many changes throughout the last few years, Max carries an M3 driver, Titleist GT3 Fairway Wood, M2 hybrid, a set of M2 irons, Callaway Jaws wedges and a TaylorMade Spider putter. And yes, Max is a bit of a self-proclaimed TaylorMade fan boy.
