After 12 months of testing it’s finally time to reveal the winners of the NCG Equipment Awards for the year. We’ll be revealing our winners across nine categories between now and the new year – so let’s get on with it. Day five sees us putt the best putters 2019 had to offer under the microscope.

Best feel: Scotty Cameron Phantom X 12
This Scotty has a firmer feel off the face than previous offerings which I loved and found exceptional for pace control.
Best alignment: Odyssey StrokeLab Black 10
This putter sits so well behind the golf ball it feels effortless to align and get the ball rolling online. The colour contrasts of the black head and the bold white alignment line make it easier to know your putts are going to start online.

Best mallet: TaylorMade Spider X
The single-shaft bend option in this putter caught my interest straight away and I wasn’t disappointed. The alignment cues are excellent and the shaping provided excellent forgiveness giving me a much more consistent true roll on my putts.
Best blade: Scotty Cameron Newport 2
Classic Scotty Cameron styling with great performance, the Newport 2 never fails to disappoint.
