Cobra’s new OPTM family of drivers introduce a new approach to accuracy and forgiveness. Rather than focusing only on high MOI, Cobra has engineered the OPTM range around low Product of Inertia (POI).

The brand has had plenty of success over recent years with their previous DS-Adapt and AeroJet ranges. They have made a slight pivot in their approach to the OPTMs.
Rather than chasing forgiveness through size or stability alone, Cobra has focused on controlling the complex twisting that sends shots offline.
Cobra OPTM Drivers: The Technology
Low POI shaping is the core innovation in the OPTM range. Cobra has used AI-driven optimisation and supercomputer simulations to shape the club head and position mass in a way that reduces twisting through impact.
Cobra believes this helps the face to stay more square for longer and improves direction consistency on off-strikes.

As we have seen with other Cobra drivers in the past a high MOI construction remains a key part of the design.
By maintaining high resistance to twisting on heel and toe strikes, the OPTM drivers preserve ball speed and stability while low POI refines that forgiveness into improved accuracy.
For a better fitting experience, adaptive POI weighting has also been included. This allows golfers and fitters to adjust moveable weights in the sole to influence shot shape and bias.
Cobra’s commonly used Hot Face Technology has been equipped to help maintain ball speeds across the face of these drivers. As well as launch and distance on strikes that miss the centre of the face.

After being such a big success last year, the FutureFit33 hosel system makes another appearance.
This allows golfers to fine-tune launch conditions, spin and shot shape to suit their swing and ball flight preferences.
Cobra OPTM Drivers: The Line-up
The new Cobra OPTM range includes four new drivers; the OPTM LS, the OPTM X, the OPTM Max-K and OPTM Max-D.
