Everyone wants to play golf at the world’s best courses, but did you know that you can play top 100 courses for under £75?
The price of a standard rack rate green fee at some of the best venues in the United Kingdom these days pushes past £500, which is a lot for four or five hours of golf.
However, golf at great venues does not need to break the bank! There are plenty of golf courses up and down the UK where you can get much more value for money.
If you look a bit further down the list, away from the big hitters, you will find some incredible value at top 100-level golfing venues.

Which venues on the NCG Top 100s lists can you play for less than £75?
Situated on the northeast coastline of England, Dunstanburgh Castle is right up there in terms of value for money when it comes to golf. A links layout with the North Sea on your left through much of the course, and one of the best short par 3s in the country, with the backdrop of the castle itself.

The great Harry Vardon held the course record at Bude & North Cornwall for many years, and you can follow in his footsteps today on a layout that has barely changed. It might not be your typical links course, but it is one that you will truly enjoy!

One of four courses within a couple of miles, Auchterarder borders the neighbouring Gleneagles Resort, home to three of the best inland courses in Scotland. In its own right, Auchterarder is a great track, with three parts to it, all winding through Scottish pine trees.

Dating back to 1895, Seacroft is the leading links course in Lincolnshire. Although not right by the eastern coastline of the United Kingdom, thanks to the Gibraltar Point Nature Reserve between the course and the North Sea, it is a proper links track with firm soil and great greens.

When it comes to hilltop golf in England, there isn’t many better venues than Cleeve Hill. It is the finest golf course in Gloucestershire, with Old Tom Morris designing the original layout. Blind shots with marker posts – often a staple of links venues – are found often at Cleeve Hill, but that is all part of the fun!

As the northernmost golf course in the country, Bull Bay overlooks the Irish Sea from its location at the northern tip of Anglesey. It offers stunning views from all parts of the golf course, one designed by the great Herbert Fowler.

With a history dating back to the late 19th Century, Crowborough Beacon is one of the oldest venues in Sussex. The course was designed by the great Dr Alister MacKenzie, and thanks to its location high above the county, it offers great views throughout.

James Braid designed the links at Perranporth, one that remained the same ever since. The club will celebrate its centenary in 2027, at the southwestern most of the 100 golf courses on the NCG Top 100s: England list.

One of the most unique and remote venues on the NCG Top 100s: Scotland list, Dunaverty is a true golfing experience. Situated at the southern tip of the Kintyre Peninsula, it requires a long journey to get there – either by road, air or sea – but it is truly worth it!

Like Prestbury, Cavendish is a club that has recently celebrated its centenary, and was designed by one of the greats. Dr Alister MacKenzie was the man behind the layout at this Derbyshire venue, with Cavendish being described as the ‘Inspiration for Augusta’.

Sitting in the northeastern corner of Aberdeen, the Corbiehill Course at Fraserburgh is a proper links layout, and part of the seventh oldest golf club in the world. If you’ve made the trip to the club that was founded way back in 1777, why not play the 9-hole Rosehill Course on the other side of the road as well?
