Reason for a Sanidway Golf Club review

Driving from the Sports Pub base in Leeds to north Wales can be a tedious journey, so stopping half way for 18 holes seemed the perfect excuse for a break from the driving.

Where is Sandiway Golf Club?

Located just off of the A556 on the Manchester to Chester route between Hartford and Sandiway, you will find Sandiway Golf Club.

What to expect

Sandiway is a beautiful, well-manicured course with many tree-lined fairways and a fair mixture of wooded and heathland holes. The greens are well regarded as some of the best in the north west, and it is hard to disagree, some tight greens can really catch you out, especially on the par 3’s.

With tight fairways measuring 6,400 yards from the back tees and par 70, Sandiway provides an uncompromising test to all level of golfers.

Favourite hole

The par three 3rd is not only one of the most picturesque holes on the golf course, nonetheless provides a stern challenge to find the green.

Measuring 187 yards from the back tees, trying to find the guarded green with four well placed bunkers is one of the most challenging tee shots on the course.

The short par four 17th is renowned as the course signature hole, measuring just 308 yards there is plenty here to catch you out. A small green protected by the ‘Sandiway Oak’ and three deep bunkers, is something to look forward to later in your round.

My best bit

From the first through to the fifth was my favourite part of the course, the first is a truly intimidating tee shot and the holes that follow are some of the toughest on the course.

This doesn’t mean you have seen the best of the course however, with fantastic views of Petty Pool, an old Cheshire Mere offering stunning scenery particularly on the eleventh and twelfth holes.

When I go back

Arrive in plenty of time to soak in the atmosphere, with clubhouse views of the course overlooking the eighteenth green. The all day breakfast is also worth a mention and I’ll certainly be ordering that again on my next visit.
