Reason for a Rudding Park Golf Club review
Looking for a course not too far from Leeds for a Saturday morning stroll, Rudding Park fit the bill perfectly because it meant we could not only play the 18-hole Hawtree course, but the impressive six-hole par 3 course made up of some iconic holes from around the world.
Where is Rudding Park?
Rudding Park is situated to the south of Harrogate in North Yorkshire around a 30 minute drive north of Leeds.
What to expect
The par 3 course is the ultimate test of your short game and the clear highlight is the signature replica of the 17th at TPC Sawgrass. Disclaimer: Many golf balls can be lost here.
The 18-hole Hawtree course itself is a magnificent test for all handicaps. A traditional out and back course has been created within the grounds of the glorious estate.
A parkland course in all its glory with long par 5s and short par 3s to certainly test every part of your golf game.
My best bit
Here lies a heroic story. One down with one to play and stuck behind a tree 80 yards from home, I choked down on my 4-iron and played the ol’ hit ‘n’ hope. I must have crossed my fingers hard enough because it stopped just five feet short of the hole, my playing partner inconsolable while I was left brimming from ear-to-ear having rescued a half.
What to look out for at Rudding Park
The tree-lined par-3 14th is particularly easy on the eye.
There are also two extra holes to the right of the 14th tee which if there for leisure can be enjoyed. It also completes a loop of 10 which leads back to the clubhouse if you’re needing to cut your golf short.
When I go back…
I will make sure I have cash on me as the halfway house by the ninth tee looked particularly appealing.
