Cornwall; what’s not to love. Sandy beaches, turquoise waters, rocky coves and quaint villages with cobbled alleys tumbling to the sea.
The North Coast is famous for its rugged cliffs, golden sands and pounding surf. It is rich with folklore, tales of smugglers and bootleggers and the Atlantic views are epic. The Gulf Stream gives Cornwall one of the mildest climates in the UK, making it glorious in summer but mild enough for off-season breaks too.
The North Coast is where you’ll find The Point, a golf resort and health club with its own accommodation on site, as well as a portfolio of rental properties dotted all over the surrounding area.
It is set back from the village of Polzeath, surrounded by flower meadows and rolling countryside but within sight of the ocean and just a 10-minute walk to the beach. It is a family run business, rooted in the Cornish lifestyle and it is at the heart of this beautiful and incredibly popular stretch of coast, which takes in Port Isaac to the north and Rock and Padstow to the south.
Remodelled by architect Tim Lobb, the golf course at The Point is a fast-running parkland course with amazing views of the bay throughout. There are sets of tees to suit everyone including some brilliant front tees for juniors and beginners.

The signature hole is the bunkerless par 4 14th with a stream diagonally dissecting the fairway. At almost 6,300 yards from the back tees, there is sufficient length to challenge low handicappers, while the course is also very playable for the holidaymaker or less experienced golfer. Either way, it’s a beautiful place to play golf.
Just a stone’s throw away is St Enodoc Golf Club – indeed, a walk from The Point over to Rock takes you directly through the golf course, past Sir John Betjman’s church and onto the South West Coastal Path, overlooking the Camel Estuary.

A half hour drive will get you to Trevose Golf Club, another spectacular setting and well worth the short trip. The Short Course here is especially good for kids or anyone new to the sport, while St Enodoc’s Church Course and the Championship Course at Trevose are both in the NCG Top 100s: GB&I Courses list.
Accommodation at The Point is in modern, architect-designed on-course residences in beautifully landscaped grounds. The curved, two-story block is made up of two-and three-bedroom apartments with views down to Polzeath Bay and Pentire Point beyond. Balconies and an upside-down layout maximise the views.
They are modern, stylish and spacious with huge windows and high-spec finishes. All amenities are there from Nespresso coffee machines to flat screen TVs plus board games, blankets and log burners in case the weather turns.
There are workstations if you need to check in with the office and the WiFi is fast. It’s just a few steps from the accommodation to the first tee, so the location couldn’t be better and with excellent self-catering facilities, this makes the ideal place to strike camp and use as your base from which to set out to other golf courses in the area or day trips away with the family.

Adjacent to the accommodation is the Health Club, which has a well-equipped gym, swimming pool with hot tub and steam room, and padel courts. There’s also an excellent restaurant with a balcony and stunning views and the Bear Bar, a more relaxed sports bar with a terrace for enjoying sundowners while watching the waves break on Newlands Island.
Cornwall is beautiful but can get exceptionally busy in high season. The Point is a haven of peace and calm, away from the crowds but within walking distance of some of the best beaches and landscapes in the country.
