Everyone will have their own opinions after seeing the NCG Top 100s: Ireland list, but which courses do our panellists believe are underrated?
There is plenty of choice when it comes to Irish golf, with links courses around the coast, and stunning moorland tracks further infield.
The way these lists are compiled is not an exact science. Some may think there are underrated courses, others may believe there are overrated courses.
That can always be a topic of discussion when it comes to golf in Ireland, which features the likes of the St Patrick’s Links at Rosapenna, County Louth and Enniscrone.
Are any of these underrated? Which courses should be higher? Our panellists had their say…

Which courses do our panellists believe should be higher?
Jim Banting: Jameson Links – formerly Portmarnock Links – continues to improve and the new greens make this a fantastic and richly enjoyable test.
Mike Atkinson: Tulfarris in County Wicklow. A beautifully maintained parkland course with some fantastic water features, overshadowed by more famous courses in the wider area.
Josh Poysden: County Sligo. A great layout with memorable holes (such as the 17th) and a beautiful setting.
Ed Battye: Rosslare – Holes 4 to 14 are high quality. There is a refined feel to them with perfect movement amongst the linksland and some green sites of the highest quality.
Mike Hyde: Mulranny – Golf as it used to, and arguably should, be. Hugely playable, subtle layout, ‘fairways’ maintained by sheep, with the sound of the Atlantic pounding in. For €20.
Craig Morrison: Wrong side of the road, inconsequential, but I have known insane happiness on The Castle Course at Lahinch, in the shadow of the tower, in the shadow of its neighbour.
Steve Carroll: North West – A very solid mix of holes combined with some incredible coastline and at a fantastic green fee price.
Chris Myatt: The Island – while it’s not underrated by panellists and golfing connoisseurs, the fact it often omitted from many a conversation, itinerary or noteworthiness is a travesty.

Lewis Marr: Dooks was a huge surprise even if my expectations were relatively low before playing. The condition was superb and it was very playable.
Dove Jones: Roganstown and Glasson Lakehouse tie – these are two inland layouts that usually are in great condition – local favourites that deserve a chance.
Dan Murphy: I’m not sure enough people realise how exceptional Portmarnock is. It may not be one of Ireland’s most spectacular links but it is one of the very finest in the Britsh Isles, let alone Ireland.
Mike Robertson: The Annesley at Royal County Down. As an enjoyable, fun, yet testing round of golf as I’ve ever had.
