Set to open on July 4, 2025, the new La Cala Short Course sits alongside the resort’s Golf Academy and driving range. It will replace a previous 6-hole loop with a fully reimagined layout. The course has been created for quick rounds without compromising the strategic element of the game. The stunning scenery that defines the Mijas-based destination, has also been maintained.

Elevated tees and sweeping Mediterranean views complete a golf course designed to appeal to every level of golfer. This ranges from juniors and families to seasoned players fine-tuning their short game.
General Manager Sean Corte-Real says the layout reflects modern golf: “Guests are increasingly looking for ways to enjoy the game in shorter time frames, and this new course allows them to do that, without compromising enjoyment or quality”.
The design encourages creativity and variety. Each hole offers a unique challenge to test distance control, shot shape, and imagination. Whether it’s a first experience of golf or a session to sharpen up before tackling one of La Cala’s three 18-hole championship courses, Campo America, Asia, and Europa, the Short Course promises to be a valuable addition.
It also strengthens La Cala’s position as a destination for game development. The short course will be used for on-course coaching, short-game clinics, and warm-ups. It will form part of a phased transformation of the Golf Academy into a dedicated “Golf Hub,” due for completion in 2026.

The wider resort experience remains a key draw. La Cala already offers a 4-star hotel, spa, fitness centre, and multiple dining venues. They continue to blend great golf with high-quality hospitality. Its nomination as Spain’s Best Golf Hotel in the 2025 World Golf Awards showcases its reputation.

“We believe golf should be inclusive, adaptable, and most of all, enjoyable,” added Corte-Real. “This new course embodies those values and gives us a unique opportunity to introduce more people to the game, support skill development, and provide an unforgettable experience, whether it’s your first round or your hundredth.”
For players seeking a modern take on traditional golf, the La Cala Short Course is a welcome addition.
