Liverpool is fast becoming a more popular base for a golf trip in the area. It’s one of England’s most dynamic cities that has been transformed over the last couple of decades.
It’s now a hive of activity, of course the city’s football teams are world-famous and getting your hands on a coveted Premier League ticket would add another dimension to a golf trip.
However, the restaurants, bars, famed nightlife and hotels mean there is no shortage of ‘off course’ entertainment.
Golf courses in Liverpool: Where to stay

The Municipal, Liverpool
Converted from the old Liverpool City Council building, The Municipal is a short walk to the railway station that cnnects almost all of the golf courses in the area.

Hillbark Hotel, Wirral
When Tiger lifted the Claret Jug in 2006, it is said he booked out the whole hotel here. Whether that is true or not, the UK’s smallest five-star hotel would have been an appropriate setting for his last (to date!) Open victory.
The Vincent, Southport
Set back off Lord Street, The Vincent is a modern take amongst Victorian shops and hotels that define the town’s architecture, and, importantly is just a 10-minute drive from the likes of Royal Birkdale and Hillside.
The Hope Street Hotel, Liverpool
Set amongst one of my favourite parts of the city, the historic Georgina Quarter, this four-star independent hotel sits opposite the Philharmonic Hall – home to the UK’s longest-performing symphony orchestra.
Golf courses in Liverpool: Where to eat & drink
The Art School, Liverpool
Paul Askew’s Michelin-starred restaurant, just a short walk from the Hope Street Hotel. Groups can take up the option of the Moriarty Dining Room downstairs for a full tasting menu.
Rudy’s Pizza, Liverpool
Gives you a slice if Liverpool’s maritime heritage near the iconic waterfront if you head to the one in the Royal Albert Dock.

Baltic Market, Liverpool
A street food market in the old Cains Brewery building. Maybe one for the younger audience in The Baltic Triangle.

The Puffin Rooms, Liverpool
Whisky and cigars, need I say no more? A cocktail bar with over 200 choices of whisky behind the bar.
Mowgli Street Food, Liverpool
Two to choose from in the city – Castle Street or Bold Stret. Enormously popular, Mowgli’s serves Indian street food, but Bold Street is where it all started.
Moor Hall, Aughton
Voted as ‘Best Restaurant in England’ in 2022 and 2023, Moor Hall is a two Michelin star set amongst an ancient manor house dating back to the 16th Century.
Chows Eating House, Parkgate
One of my favourite top-quality Chinese eating places. Located in Parkgate, a beautiful old village a short drive from Hoylake.
Top tip: Have a pint of local ale ‘Trapper’s Hat’ in the Ship Inn while the sun sets.

The Cavern Club, Liverpool
It would be remiss not to mention Liverpool’s famous Cavern Club, the former jazz club that gave The Beatles their start. Slightly different now compared to the 1960s but it remains an iconic venue.
