The 17th hole on the Old Course, better known as the Road Hole, has many iconic features. The treacherous Road Hole bunker, the road that is in play over the back of the green and the wall that many golfers have rebounded shots off.
The tee shot is also iconic worldwide due to the fact you have to hit your shot over the old railway sheds to reach the fairway. But what exactly is behind that famous wall that you hit your drive over?

The Famous Wall on the Road Hole, St Andrews
The old railway sheds are now part of the Old Course Hotel, and they make up part of the hotel’s Hall Of Champions event space.
This is a series of interconnecting rooms with walls that move apart to create one massive event space. The area is most often used for weddings, functions and corporate events.

The space has been re-designed to incorporate a colour theme of slipper satin, and lilacs to evoke the heather and sage greens. The rooms are flexible with natural light and can seat up to 450. It has a dedicated entrance, port cochere and reception area.

There is also an outdoor terrace for those who are brave enough to face the Scottish weather and wayward golf balls, but it does deliver stunning and up-close views across St Andrews Road Hole and beyond and gives you a great up-close view of the action on the golf course.
