‘Oh no, Jordan’: Watch Spieth attempt ‘pathetic’ backhand putt

The Texan delivered a truly eyebrow raising moment on day one at the CJ Cup

what putter is right for you

Jordan Spieth was in full Jordan Spieth mode during round one of the CJ Cup – at least from an entertainment standpoint – delivering the brilliant, the bizarre and the audacious en route to carding a 75 at Congaree.

Competing at his first PGA Tour event in two months, Spieth started his day in the most Spieth way possible, getting up and down from an unlikely spot after his approach pitched next to some TV cables…

From there, the Spieth rollercoaster was in full effect, a pair of pars and birdies following a nightmare triple-bogey on the par-4 6th as the Texan struggled to find any form of consistency.

Then, the moment you all came here for.

Putting for birdie on the par-4 16th, Spieth watched another effort go begging to leave himself a tap-in par. Or so we thought.

Watch what happened next as Spieth had everyone screaming at their screens – including commentator Trevor Immelman…

“Oh no, Jordan” indeed as the three-time major winner delivered a calamitous backhand putt attempt. Seriously, what was he thinking?

After marking his ball like nothing happened, Spieth would settle his composure to hole-out the follow up effort, this time using the inside of the putter.

Ever the professional, the Texan then closed out with a birdie on 18 before sticking around to sign just about every autograph he could get his hands on. Yep, it’s looking like another eventful season for Jordan Spieth, and we seriously can’t wait.

Never change, Jordan. Just please cut out the backhand putt shenanigans.
