After what has been a sensational summer of women’s golf, we are now treated to the spectacle that is the Solheim Cup. As Teams USA and Europe prepare to go to battle, both sides are packed with top talent and I can see this being a very strong edition of the famous tournament. With a range of markets on offer to bet on the event, I have sniffed out a couple of selections that I think offer some value. Here is everything you need to know…
Solheim Cup details
Venue: Inverness Club, Toledo, Ohio
Date: September 4-6, 2021
Course stats: Par 72; 6,903 yards
Course summary: This Donald Ross course will be a fitting test for both teams, with just the one par-5 on each nine. The iconic venue has hosted four US Opens and two PGA Championships, and has recently been adapted by Andrew Green in preparation for the Solheim Cup. Well-bunkered, small greens will be tough for the players to negotiate, with drama sure to be present on the tough back-nine.
Defending champions: Europe

Sunday: Sky Sports Golf from 12pm
Monday: Sky Sports Golf (Red Button) and Sky Sports Mix from 4.30pm; Sky Sports Main Event from 6pm

Solheim Cup betting tips
Before I get to who I’m backing for glory, I’ve picked out a couple of points-based markets I’ll be going in on. I’ve picked one for each team…
Top European points scorer: Charley Hull @ 11/2 with Bet365
Despite being just 25, Hull arrives as one of the more experienced members of the European Solheim Cup team with four previous appearances, and I’m backing her to lead Team Europe’s charge.
As a two-time champion it is clear that she knows how to grind out results in this format and with a record of nine wins from 15 matches in the Solheim Cup, she all but picks herself in this market.
Top combined points scorer: Lizette Salas @ 16/1 with Bet365
Salas has had an impressive year, including two top-five finishes at the major and nothing worse than T26.
The 32-year-old has plenty of Solheim Cup experience and represents tremendous value at this price. This will be her fifth appearance in the biennial competition and she heads to Ohio with six wins from 14 matches.
As one of the more experienced members of a young but immensely talented side, Salas will be a major factor in her team’s bid to reclaim the Solheim Cup.
Solheim Cup In-Play betting tips
Correct Result: Europe 15-13 USA @ 13/2
With a healthy two point lead heading into the singles matches, the European Team will be looking to capitalise on a solid start and retain the Solheim Cup. With the likes of Maguire, Hull, Reid and Nordqvist leading the charge in the singles, and with world number one Nelly Korda appearing to struggle, I can see Europe holding off the USA with a narrow win.
