About Shanshan Feng
Shanshan Feng, a one-time Major winner, is the leading Chinese player in the women’s game.
The 26-year-old is a record-breaker having become the first player from China to win an LPGA Major championship when she clinched the 2012 LPGA Championship title.
Feng had a decorated career as an amateur golfer, winning numerous tournaments and individual honours.
She won the China Junior Championship and the China Junior Open in 2004.
She was a three-time winner of the China Amateur Tournament (2004-2006) and was also the 2006 China Women’s Amateur Open champion.
The Guangzhou-born star was crowned Golfweek’s Top Chinese Amateur in 2007 after winning four tournaments on the International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT) in 2007.
Feng also qualified for the 2007 U.S. Women’s Open as an amateur. That same year she tied for ninth at the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament to earn exempt status for the 2008 LPGA season. She turned professional immediately following the final round.
She made steady progress in the subsequent years, crossing the $1 million mark in career earnings in 2011.
Feng secured her first and only Major to date in 2012 Locust Hill Country Club, New York, when she captured the LPGA Championship.
In the final round, she shot a bogey-free 67 as she finished two strokes ahead of Eun-Hee Ji, Stacy Lewis, Mika Miyazato, and Suzann Pettersen.
From 2012 to 2015, Feng missed just three cuts in 83 events.
Feng, who is now 12th in the world rankings, has also played on the LET and JLPGA tours.
